As discussed at the October Quarterly:

I was wondering what this really is. is it just that peat stuff you use in gardens or is it made for oil dry use?

I think its a specific type of peat that is dried a specific way.....?
Maria: Can we ride in your Jeep again? Please!?
Lily: My tooth feels loose, can you use your tools to pull it out again?
Juliet: Can you carry me upside down to bed?!
    Violet: Cookie?

Peat moss that you get in stores has a high % content of moisture. With the moisture in it, it will not absorb the hydrocarbon base oils. It won't pick up the oil. The Peat Sorb is specially dried.

we use the stuff at work. it soaks up everything but water. something about how its dried prevents water from being re absorbed. plus its really light to carry as compaired to clay based absorbants. last I knew were buying the stuff in roll and bag form

I see it has been over a year since this thread was active. Bump to remind you this is a good product.

I just put some of this stuff down on the garage floor today to soak up a spill.

And I've not sold a single container to anybody in Mich in literally that long. Pretty sad if you ask me.
Does we only have web wheelers now?

What gets me is the poor attitude some people have in regards to vehicle related spills. I was disappointed to see that a couple people on GL4x4 wanted to argue the point to just leave oil spilled on trails and rocks in place because in the grand scheme 'my little bit doesn't matter.'

The lack of individual responsibility is amazing. I was always taught to remember "It starts with me."
