Anybody have any info on this? What the hell does it take to get a court ruling on stuff like this? Why are these always dismissed?

If the dismiss them they can keep giving tickets and hope the uninformed just pay up.
What is happening to all the donated money to fight this? Is it going into a GLFWDA account to fight other tickets that may arise?
I assume that by dismissing this, it negates any reason to set precident.

Thanks to those that do all the hard work.
Unless I missed something, there was not much of a precedent to be set. The tickets were issued for being "out of bounds" according to the new vehicle use maps, which at that time has not been published yet. Today that same stretch of trail is "out of bounds" according to the now-published MVUM. The legal victory for our sport in general would have been to get someone from USFS on the stand to answer questions about road densities and some of the other technical arguments that the Two Trackers, UFWDA and GLFWDA have been working on for a while in an attempt to get more trails on the map before it was published.

Sometimes prosecutors feel that it's just not feasable to waste several days and thousands of dollars on a trial that is over an insignificant (to them) matter. It's not like there were tens of thousands of dollars of fine money at stake in this incident. They just waited to see if these guys would "flinch" first and just pay the fine before they dropped it.
I'd comment more about our courts system, but I'd like to remain employed until I decide to retire.
All-in-all, the Case being Dismissed carries with it a mixed blessing.
As for the reservoir funds; the understanding from the beginning was that UFWDA and GLFWDA would receive any remaining monies to carry the fight forward another day.
This still leaves the four that received the citations out their own personal loses as they covered their own expenses.
