New Michigan Karner Blue Butterfly Survey to be conducted.

Why would a 4-wheeler help with this survey?

a. The Karner Blue Butterfly will probably affect areas that we like to wheel. If we don't get involved in this process at the beginning, we could possibly see areas closed to wheeling because of it.

b. To make sure the information is collected accurately and properly.

c. To have input into the areas that are going to affect us.

So they going to shut the forrest down to protect more sexing by the butterfly's, so they can mass produce and take over?

I think I had a few of those in my grill......on my car......on a paved road.....maybe we should recommend them closing the paved roads or at least lowering all the speed limits on all paved roads to 5mph near their breeding grounds.

I am curious to know what type of studies are conducted prior to Clear Cutting the Forest and the Long Term Impact it has on the wildlife of the Area.

This idea of participating bears repeating the belief to keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.

There are HUGE stands of Lupine along the sides of US31 just south of the Whitehall/Colby St. exit.

Our trail speeds are usually too low to be a hazard to them. Something the NFS needs to be made aware of. . . and this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Exactly; AND if we participate we can influence exactly where these openings are created and try to keep them away from the two tracks.

You mean I can get reimbursed to go wheeling in the woods if I turn in a count of the number of blue butterflys I see???

I know, it's not that easy, but it sounded GREAT for a minute or two!

My brother is a biologist for the USFS and was counting butterflies in the area last year. When they went back to their vehicles he spotted a dead one in one of their tire tracks. LOL

I'll see if I can get some more info.
