    Default Maps showing public land

Has anyone run across maps of public land to import into a GPS? The only one I found is by a company called vvmapping.com. Has anyone used their product or know of others?

Right now I have to cross reference to a Delorme atlas and gazeteer to see if the surrounding land is (probably) private or not.

I've never seen any data that was as reputable as the Plat Maps for each county that shows property ownership. With those costing near 50 clams a book now a days it would be interesting to compare ownership with the source you mentioned. Might be woth a hundred or more to get real ownership data.
    Do you have a URL?

Do you mean personal website or the one for http://vvmapping.com/?

After looking at their website some more, it looks like it may be the DNR quarter quarter section map data. Guess I'll have to start collecting plat books.

Jim's 110% right; plat maps are the way to go.

I have Kent, Muskegon, and Oceana - if you want copies.
(I'll take copies of whatever you find, lol)

I don't want to sound like the village idiot, but I buy a new Michigan Gazeteer each year, and rely on the public land demarkations there. Is this not a reliable source?

What I have found with the Gazeteer is that there are some smaller tracts of private land within SF or Fed Forest that do not show up. You could end up running a trail that leads you right through private property and you never know until the shotgun comes out. I just recieved the
Huron/Manistee NFS schedule of proposed action for 2008, in it were several applications for easments to private property, some as small as a couple acres. These would not show on in a Gazeteer.

I have a Cheboygen county and Otsego county plat book if anyone wants to make copies. They are at my cabin until spring though.
