    When I bought mine, the Yaesu 2900 was on the top of my list. Until I saw the 7900. The ability to separate the front panel and the main unit of the radio made it much easier to mount in the Jeep. It costs a bit more, but if you are short on mounting options, consider it.

    That said, I expect the quality of the 2900 to be equal to that of the 7900. Its got a lot of bang for the buck. It will be a good radio
