Thread: Newbie x 2

    Default Newbie x 2

Hello, my name is Brian and not only am I a newbie to this forum, I am a newbie to the whole 4 x 4 thing. After my Silverado and I parted ways, my wife convinced me to purchase a four wheel drive for winter driving. I had always maintained that I could get by with a two wheel drive truck and for the most part, I had very little issues with my trips. So now that I have a 4X4, I am interested in finding some "old man" trail riding and maybe camping.

As far as my home life, I enjoy boating, motorcycling, garden tractors, and just about anything mechanical. I am married (2x) and have 6 combined children and 12 combined grand-children.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish and I hope to meet some of you at a trail ride or event.

Hi Brian, and welcome to GLFWDA! There are a couple of upcoming events, Drummond Island Offroad Adventure may already be sold out, but another one coming up in September (Gitchee Gumee) may be of interest to you. Feel free to poke around our forums, and if you have questions let us know

    Welcome!
There are a lot of trails in Twin Lake, Whitehall, Montague, Hesperia, White Cloud and Fremont areas.
You will need a Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) to find them and to be sure you are using these areas legally.
You can view the map here:https://fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOC...rdb5145178.pdf
and order it from: Baldwin-White Cloud Ranger Station, 650 North Michigan Avenue, P.O. Box D, Baldwin, MI 49304.
    They are free!
I suggest you get a couple of copies, they wear out pretty fast.
Get out there and have FUN!

    Hi Brian,

We just moved to Rockford and I called the ranger office in Cadillac. They mailed the maps to me in a couple days. The number I called was 1-800-821-6263. Here is the email as well r9_hmnf_website@fs.fed.us. I hope to get out on the trails in a few weeks.

    Welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site, and the sport! Lots of folks in the association are just like you - looking for some "light" two tracking trail rides to get out in the great outdoors with the family. Think about joining a club in your area - you'll have lots of chances to get out on the trails!
