I'm pleased to announce that GLFWDA has finally continued the traditional Annual Awards to recognize the Member of the Year (Putt/Caverly Award), Club of the Year, and Associate Member of the Year! And a special presentation on top of these! A huge thanks to the SoFO club for their outstanding hospitality and letting GLFWDA share their awards at the 2017 Sno-Fari Banquet!!!
And here they are!
First, the Member of the Year (Putt/Caverly Award) went to Michelle Borgeson! Michelle for the last five years or so as exhibited outstanding dedication to the Association. She put in more time in Association business than any three of the other Exec Board members combined! She has been the glue that keeps the Association going, and has successfully recruited at least two or three clubs during her tenure. She is constantly monitoring our website & Face Book page for opportunities and reasons to further promote the Association - or more accurately what the Association does for the Four Wheel Drive community.
The Associate Member of the Year Award was awarded to Iron Man Offroad! they have participated in every GLFWDA sanctioned event since I've been President, without a doubt supports the goals and objectives of GLFWDA, they demonstrate their support of the sport through their participation in numerous events, and have a solid grasp of the organizations goals and objectives.
And the Club of the Year went to the Two Trackers Four Wheel Drive Club! Two Trackers consistently promotes the sport and supports the Association (as ALL our member clubs do!). What put them over the top, however, was an exceptional effort they made last June! The 'effort' was the West Michigan Jeep & 4x4 Fest! The planning and execution of this event was evident in every aspect of the event. Turnout was awesome... better than expected. Volunteers were polite, helpful and attentive to the vendors and guests. And most importantly, 100% of the proceeds went two west Michigan veteran charities: Habitat for Humanity-Veteran Build, and Team Rubicon USA.
And finally, the Association had the honor to recognize one of our longtime members for his outstanding contribution to the sport and the Association over the past (almost) four decades! Jim Kitson was presented with the GLFWDA Ambassador membership, which is in essence a lifetime membership in the Association, which is accompanied by a Lifetime Member ship in United Four Wheel Drive Association.
Jim has headed GLFWDA committees, still does trail leading chores for the Association and member clubs, and is currently He is currently involved with the Mines ORV Park in Oakland County where he currently serves as a volunteer design consultant on the new project.
A final congratulations to all of our awardees!!
