Is it normal for older Jeeps to ride rough? I have two 93's that I just replaced the shocks on. But it's definately still stiff. What if I replaced the leaf springs? Can I ever expect it to ride like a car? I don't really care, but my wife is crazy about the "little" things. Any ideas?

Ride like a car? Not gonna happen.

Soften the ride, sure. Good shocks, not the cheap no name ones, go a long ways. If they were under 50 each, they likely aren't good. Go with OME or Bilstein. I don't know if yours are lifted or not, but a good set of springs will likely go a long way as well.

Find out if the shackles move, if the bolts are froze to the bushings it will be stiff also. These aren't easily unstuck you may end up cutting bolts and replacing bushings.

Greasable shackles and replacement springs made a big difference in the ride quality of my '93.

If you are comfortable eliminating equipment that the factory thought was necessary, mine also rode better after eliminating the track bars F&R, but it created some differences in handling that not everyone likes.

For all the bad that is talked about SkyJacker on full size rigs, I found that the soft ride leafs road WAY softer than any other pack I had on my YJ. Over the years I probably had 4 different sets of aftermarket and one set of original wore out packs and a set of stock replacements.

But x2 on the shackle bolts being stuck. If they are original I woul;d bet they are froze in the bushing.

a good set of new shackles and bushings that are rubber not poly.
ive heard good things about old man emu springs for their ride.
ususally the higher the lift spring, the stiffer they are.
good quality gas shocks. perhaps even an adjustable shock on a very low setting

some peole go spring over axle and remove a leaf from the pack to soften it and make it flex better. often requires an anti-wrap bar for th rear.
