Check it out at the JRations Web site. I see some nice ideas, like the in-floor lockable trunk...but there way too many electronic doo-dad and safety-nazi "improvements" if you ask me.

It doesn't look all that bad, from a street car stand point. Here's my likes/ dislikes:
Likes:
1. The roof. That is cool how you have t-tops, a safari top, a half top, or can go topless. No mention of a softtop though.
2. Overall looks: It still looks ok. It looks like a Rubicon and a Liberty made love and this is the results.
3. Rubicon lives: The most capable stock wheeler still lives, and in close to its existing form. Locking dana 44s, NV241OR, and huge tires.
4. Electronic disconnecting sway bar: Granted, it probably only lets you disco at sub-10MPH speeds, in 4Lo, with both axles locked, on a starry night in June with the relative humidity below 80%, and only if you cross your fingers and pray.
Dislikes:
1. Engine: I'm guessing that the V6 won't have nearly the low end grunt of the I6, and that you'll need to rev it to all hell to go anywhere. Good for mud pits, but it will probably cry on the rocks.
2. No folding windshield?: I didn't see hinges, so I'm assuming that the windshield doesn't fold anymore. That would suck.
3. No bumperlettes on the front/ rear bumper: Yeah, I know people hate these. Thats why I'm mentioning it. You no longer have the ability to remove them without cutting the bumper. That was one of the first things most people did to the TJ to make them look tougher.
4. All plastic front fenders: Too much plastic. They need a bit of metal in there to even things out. Granted, it will make it easier to fix a tree contact, but it just looks ugly.
5. Ghetto beats out function: Come on, whats with the big rim sizes??? Can we stick to 15s or MAYBE 16s, please? I'd prefer NOT to pay $100 extra per tire, just because the rim is 1" bigger. Then again, I'd actually use the Jeep offroad, and not just in the mall parking lot. Hopefully they at least left us the option to downsize the rims if we want to, and didn't make the brakes so huge that you HAVE to use larger rims (ala new Dodge Ram).
Overall, I think they really sissyfied the wrangler with this latest iteration. Could it be the fact that I think a coil spring CJ is the perfect vehicle? Yeah, that might have something to do with it. But otherwise, I won't be buying one any time soon.

You can thank Four Wheeler and 4Wheel and Off Road for the V6. "It can't keep upon the hiway with the luxary 'utes"
Jeep sent them exactly the truck they wanted with the Rubicon, and it came in 7th place because it was too slow on the road and wasn't as comfy.
(I should mention that I kind of enjoyed having Toyota (Lexus) winning many times in the last few years, but I still think Jeep got shafted)

Minor updates.
Soft top (sunrider) is available.
It DOES have folding windshield.
The doors are still removable.
By the way, I personally like the big beefy front flares with a little less vulnerable sheet metal

Those big flares do a lot of moving around when graspped by hand and would be easily broke or even ripped off after incedental contact with forestation.
They do lend themselves to easier removal and instalation of the ever so popular steel flat fenders that folks are building these days.
When I first approached the vehicle it was surrounded by techies playing with the flares and the concences (sp) was the same as my impression written above. Other than that I liked it!

I like alot of things about it, but it needs more motor. It weights more than previous models, but only make 15hp more. Look at the 6cyl availible in Chevy Trailblazer, Toyota 4Runner, Nissan Xterra & Pathfinders, Honda Pilot, Saturn Vue, etc. all those 6cyl make at 236hp or more.

I somewhat like the looks of it, and I'm happy to see a much lighter motor. Also, I'm happy to hear solid axles are to stay (for now) and that the rubicon is here to stay. However, I think the whole package is a little too "car like" and I'm still waiting for them to get some cahones and put a V-8 back into an open top jeep. It's been way too long. Plus they got that cool hemi, or even the lightweight 488 cubic inch V-10.

Yeah....Muddy Paws and I saw it up close (and even crawled under it :bigemo_harabe_net-110: ) at the International Auto Show in Detroit last Thursday. It's actually pretty sweet when you see it in person!
As Bruce stated, the windshield does still fold down. The change for '07 is in the hinge system. Instead of 2 hinges, there is just now one hinge, and it's in the center of the windshield.
They've done away with the MTR's, and now outfit the wheels with BFG Mud Terrains. There are a LOT of subtle changes to the body: The door shape is different, the mirrors, door handles, and even the tailgate handle are differnet. The rear wiper is different too. The doors were locked, so we couldn't get in, but the interior looked to have quite a few changes.
And I agree with Pat....the front "fenders" were REALLY flimsy and flopped up and down with the slightest touch!!! I think if you got that Jeep up to seventy on the expressway, those things would be flapping like the wings on a red-tailed hawk!!!
Would I buy one?? Heck yeah.....but only if they came in PURPLE!

When I was at the show the top was off and you could crawl all over it!
All of the vehicles were unlocked and you could sit in everything but the supercars.
