Jim, the awards look great. Hopefully I'll be in Michigan for next year's run and will be able to attend.

I'll admit, I have been spoiled by the amount of rock out here, but I still want to hang out with you guys. Maybe you can all come out here this summer for a trip in the Mohawk Mountains and Old Florida Road. NOVA is also putting together a Trailfest weekend with 8-9 of the clubs here on the east coast, which I believe is going to be the first weekend in August.

We are looking at a New England road trip but more likely in the Fall for the colors. Let us know what trail rides might be going on then, I have not looked around yet, but plan to include some off highway miles!

Figured I would check in with the Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs for a contact. We're driving, not trailering, so we look for easy to mild trails.

Thanks!

It would be fun but I think you're a bit far for us for a wheeling trip. The wife and I do plan a trip to the east coast within the next couple years but she's wanting to do the Martha's Vineyard type stuff.:wah:

I enjoyed the short afternoon trip we had at the 2008 UFWDA AGM up in New Hampshire - no great challenges (I think they called them "Maintenance Level 6" roads, some with a history going back to the 18th century) but it was fun to see a new part of the country while off the pavement. The downside is by the time I travel 15 hours to that part of the country, heading west I could just about see the Rockies in the distance on my way to Colorado Springs in that same drive time....so many places, so little time.

Funny.....I was informed that that's what i'm going to have to do not this summer but the next one.:banghead:

Just send me a pm when you are coming out and I can make something happen. Maybe we could take a trip to Rattlesnake Gutter or one of the easier trails in the Mohawk Mountains. The 8 clubs that were part of the EC4WDA pulled away this year because they were taking all of our money and sending it back to Ohio for offroad races rather than helping in our fight for public lands out here. We have formed a new organization called NOVA. Here is a link to the new website.

:laughing2:

WOW, now that sounds like the MI (GL4x4) GLFWDA argument with UFWDA membership $$ going West instead of helping in MI!

I'll have to check in to NE and $$ to Ohio racing, they must be part of East Coast Four Wheel Drive Association. I know the EC group is stronger on the East side of OH near PA.

Thanks for the contact offer, I'll likely take you up on it later in the year.

It also sounds a little bit like what GLFWDA went through a few years ago, when the Association decided to focus on land use and the racers left.

I think that was more than a FEW years ago!
More like a BUNCH of years ago.

Yes, this split was due to the fact that the EC4WDA was much more interested in the offroad racing than land use issues or helping us on the east coast. If you look at the NOVA site we are all local clubs in this area with a common goal of creating land use opportunities on public as well as private land.

I have a couple of 16-20" Black Walnut trees I cut down that are still back by the barn. You can have a few slices off of those if you'd like :thumb:

Yes Jim.....the awards look very cool!! Makes me wish I went to SnoFari just to have the chance to win one!!

(Of course....to personalize it for me, you would have to put about 9 little metal plates on it, and add several cracks in the face!!)

I'm not sure if my skull is camo or not........it looks pretty plain on all of my CAT scans and MRIs!!!!

(Except for all of the plates, screws, and wire!)

Sorry for the hijack Jim!
