my neighbor invited me to tag along with him and a bunch of his friends to rocks & valleys this sunday. he also came over and figured out why my juggy would not start. looks like we have 6 to 7 fairly stout rigs going sunday. caravan of trailers leaving detroit 7:30am.
sure was nice to be invited! kinda different going with a group that i dont hardly know at all? the 2 guys i met seem like real nice guys. this is the first time i have wheeled with non-GLFWDA people in years.
i will be following slightly smaller rigs as a test run for the juggy.
any one else going to r&v sunday??

Sounds like a good time. I've committed the weekend to re-packing bearings, changing lube, cleaning, etc..on the 5, then mothballing it until SnoFari.
Have fun!

i might have spoke too soon myself. i took apart all my power and grounds. they all were nasty. i also replaced the main ground strap from the ground to the body. i got them all clean and coated in dielectric grease. hit the button and it fired right up and ran perfect. let it run for about 10 mins.
shut it off and it would not restart. i have an ignition electrical gremlin i cant seem to chase away. after looking into it deeper i found another ground under the dash and cleaned that one too. i later found 2 grounds on the engine, just in front of the motor mount on the passenger side. they were completely corroded and im hoping they dont break when i clean them tomorrow. mike took it to a winter wheeling event last year, and the salt got to it real bad. inner fenderwells are gonna be added to it asap.
if i can get the gremlins figured out im gonna go sunday.

mabey. gonna have inner fenderwells first for sure. the salt caked everything under the hood from mikes last winter run. all my connections were really crusty!

I was thinking of going Saturday or Sunday to R&V with about 10 HX guys... but have not been able to confirm.
Carl is on short rope.... Even though his wife got a shiny new red car.....:banghead:

Joe what motor do you have in that? Fuel injected? Is the problem it won't turn over or won't start? Only after it's been run recently? Got pressure at the rail? More info and I'll bet one of us on here have chased that gremlin before...
And yeah, I'm adding ground straps as we speak. IMO jeeps are terrible for this. I've seen a couple military jeeps that had way better grounds. I wonder if it was modified or if the military saw this early, early on and "fixed" the problem and it's only the civilian versions that we keep beating our heads against the wall on.

Cris sent a note to me a while ago... that was about it. I know he was building a new house, but I thought that was done. They have been out to R&V a few times this year... but they go when I can't make it.
I will be selling food at the Plymouth Farmers market instead in the morning....

my neighbor figured it out. he came over with the wiring diagram. it lost power to the auto shut down relay. that circut powers alot of stuff. he put 12v to it and it fired right up. ran pretty good. it will be fixed saturday, no problem. it will have a complete new harness this winter. the current harness has alot of stuff cut out of it. with so many cuts in the harness its getting pretty coroded inside. i can get the complete harness from an 2000 cherokee for $60.00. while im at it im gonna get the dash cluster, so i have gauges.
if anyone else shows up flag us down. we got my buggy, and 2 black yj's on 37's, and a bunch of other rigs i have not seen.

rocks and valleys is sweet:thumb:!
yes dana 60's can break too:wave:!
left front hub is blown. wheel bearings are gone, posibly spindle too?
3 wheel drive took me everywhere i could want to go. this thing is fun!
i drove it on the trailer so all is good.
it flexes surprisingly well with such limited up travel. i was amazed on the rti ramp!
wheeling with little to no brakes is tricky!
pics soon i hope.

i just got a set used solid axle 35 spline drive flanges on ebay for 149 shipped.
drive flanges, 4340 35 spline shafts, and all new bearings an seals should be installed in a week or two.
trying to get the brakes and clutch to work better too. my t18 shifts for poo and i got just about zero brakes.
