Just wanted to say hi to everyone and ask if anyone was from the big rapids/baldwin in Michigan. If anyone knows of some good trails around those areas and wants to do some jeeping, let me know!! Have fun and keep it safe.

Welcome!

I'm not from that area, but we took the group from Northern Migration through that area. There are lots of trails nearby.

Hello!

Trails in your area are mostly Huron-Manistee National Forest (HMNF) with some County Road Commission 'Unimproved' roads for fun too. The HMNF is in the process of closing most of the two tracks and will be publishing a Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) this fall. Roads on the map are legal, those not on the map are illegal. Until the map is out, take extra care out on their lands.

Closing most of the HMNF two tracks for real??? I just sold my atv and bought a truck so I could legally ride on the forest roads, two tracks etc. Sure would be disappointing to have limited legal road to ride. Where are you getting the info regarding most of the two tracks are being closed?

It is the National Forest Management process, been going on for a couple of years. Thats why it is SSSOOOOO important that organizations like GLFWDA, UFWDA, IFWDA .... are monitoring and commenting on these types of processes. You need to be aware and help (join) fight to Support our Sport! :soap: Your membership $$$$ assist with keeping trails open in ALL states, including MI. If it happens elsewhere, good chance it WILL happen in MI!

Believe me Pat B (Trail Fanatic) knows what he says ... Why? Because he is one of the most active Land Use folks we have!

THANKS Pat!!!

Thanks Doug.

Twin Lake Wheeler,
I'm the Chairman of the GLFWDA Land Use Committee.
The Committee has tasked itself with monitoring the public lands we drive. Those include National Forest, State Forest, and minimally improved County Roads. We've been actively fighting the closures. It's an uphill battle, but we are seeing some successes. We're up against entire departments of people working 40 hour weeks and many more volunteer organizations with strong anti-access agendas like the Sierra Club, Wildlands CPR (sp?) and PEER.
