i havent checked out the "mudds" yet and dont plan to but ill make an exception.... a few of us are planning on going out to the mounds (which is near flint) in a couple weeks and i'd like to invite you to see what the "jeep thing" is all about, well find you a ride or you can take your own vehicle if you'd like

are you up for some of what your trying to sell by promoting the "jeeping" image?

I checked it out but I have to say I sorta don't really get it. It's sort of a yuppie-fied thing. That may be the group you are shooting for though. I know that the vast majority of the people I have met both here and from Michigan Jeepers don't look like that there family thing you have going on there. Dockers and sandles just don't fit the bill...but then again, I don't know anyone TRUELY wheelin a IFS Jeep either.

Show us what that thing can do...come out to the Mounds with one.

I'd be more interested in Commander if they looked like this from the factory. But a solid front axle instead of the IFS

Im glad you came here and are opening your self up to the sport and if you can make it I hope you go to the mounds with these guys, theyre a great bunch. Find out what we are all about.
AND if you can talk DC into putting a D44 or a D60 in the front of a commander id buy one :)

Aliyah......we go there alot. Is there another weekend you could come out with us? Or how would a winter trailride work.

Oh and can you get the engineers to work on a Commander like I showed above with a Hemi, D44 front and selectable lockers like a Rubicon....oh and some 315/75R17 BFG's :P

Meet the BULT4MUDS, I love it! :D

I also checked out the video of Meet the Muds, I think its a great idea to have a caching competition to win prizes, but I don't think the video really conveys what you are trying to have with this contest. I would have rather seen people actually doing some geocaching and having lots of fun doing it in their Jeeps (maybe even a Commander showing us what it can really do)

Meet the Mudds seems more like a cheesy advertisment for the Commander. I thought it was somewhat misleading in advertising the cargo room by showing the kayak and then not having it in or on the Jeep as it pulls away (thats was a dirty trick)

I do like the Commander however, its a nice throwback to the Cherokee which I am sure people have been wanting from DCX. Unfortunately, I wish they would have kept it more simple (like the Cherokee) to keep the price down, The price seems a bit high granted you can get it with a Hemi, but why can't we have a 7 seater Jeep thats more on par with the Wranglers price range (like the old Cherokee used to be), We already have the Grand Cherokee. I also wish they would have kept this one Solid Front Axle as the others have mentioned.

I hope this message helps somehow, somewhere

GOOD Answer to everything DD

I really do miss the XJ

but if the commander came out like this it would be easier for me to love

To add on to what DD said, when I heard Jeep was coming out with a 7 passenger vehicle, I thought it would compare in size to a Suburban or at least the Tahoe, Expedition, Armada size. Its has less interior space than my Explorer. I was really hoping to get rid of my Suburban and get a Commander if they where much bigger. But its not adequite size for my family of 6. So I guess I'll be sticking with a Suburban or Excursion.

I gotta say, I'm with the others on this one. I wheel my CJ pretty hard, I wheel my ZJ a mild amount on Michigan forest roads. I look at that Commander and drop my head in discust with how a company could put the Jeep brand on it. I would have loved to see a big FSJ come out like the old Waggy's (minus woodgrain of course, maybe just have it as an option), with a 3rd row sear, SOLID front and rear axles are a MUST, and they must be at least a D44 at a minumum, but for an FSJ D60's. The Cherokee's had a perfect place in the market, and DXC ruined it. If this is an attempt to get into that "Cherokee" market I hope if fails. I am all for a comfortable traveler, a get around grocery getter, but it's got to have some capabilities off road. That is why I love my ZJ. Even it is simple, and tough. The WJ's aren't bad either, that will probably be my next one. But not this Commander, unless something changes next year.

I can appreciate putting IFS on a soccer mom mobile, but if this is considered the largest Jeep product, I agree on BIG solid axles. Guys wanna drive rigs, and rigs gotta feel tough. Even a bigger FSJ would be better.

How come the family has mud all over their faces and the Jeep is sparkling clean?

I actually feel embarased for the Jeep brand while watching that. I am sorry to be such a Commander and Mudds "basher" but I find it very annoying. And, since I bought a Jeep new, we continually are getting stuff in the mail and I am sick of having DXC marketing shove the Commander down my throat.

If it were standing on it's own, they wouldn't have to market it so hard.
