I'll be there, and should have 3-5 non GL members coming to help out. I also have 6 or 7 pairs of loppers in the back of my truck that belong to GL....I'll bring those also.

I am planning on coming but I will have my sons with me , they are a permenent fixture in my jeep and I do not wheel with out them ...if there is an objection to this please let me know ...my membership is due soon and this will let me know which way GL is going.
On a side note my boys really want to help ...after all this will be their sport someday and they can probably work circles around some of the big boys.
So I say for now count 4 from my clan.

So, what would be the problem with you having young children enjoying your sport?
Bring them along!!!
As far as dues goes, this is not a GL event but rather a good faith effort towards the Mounds. GL is just trying to promote and sponsor the effort with some food.

S.E.R. bring the boys......I plan on bringing my 9 year old son, and my buddy is bringing his 5 year old son.
I took my son to trail maint. last spring and he loved it. He as a good helper to with signs, throwing branches off the trail, etc.

I'll be there with my wife and boys but I did not want to start a riff amongst the other volunteers and hear the after effects of kids being in the way. I will become more involved in the future but my family is part of the package..... kind of a all or nothing.
My boys really enjoy the sport and I'd like them to learn the maint. part is just as important . The best way I can teach them is to let them get their hands dirty.
By the way they like to call the mounds "the mountians" .
If GL needs anything food wise let me know we can bring something to pass ...

I would say that my wife wheels with me 90% of the time. My kids used to but are now grown and are now wheeling with us with their own rigs. (one or both will be at the cleanup)
The all or nothing attitude is great! (as long as the wife likes it...)
Obviously, as a parent, you know that the kids need supervision. With that being said, no one has the right to question your kids being there.
Regarding food, GL will provide Dogs, buns, condiments, some chips and pop/ water.
If you want to bring something else, that is your option but not required.
Jim M... any input on any of this????
See you there.
Jim

my dad is nowhere near a computer today so im being the messenger: GLFWDA is providing the food, if there is something else you'd like to bring/pass out then that is fine also, you dont need to but you arent discouraged from it.
on a side note, my parents have had me wheeling since i was born and the only downside to that is now my rig is more capable than any of his were and now hes playing catch-up :D

It was kind of funny when we were scouting in Canada over Labor Day.
Bryce was working his way up a challenging skidder trail (that I would not get up) and I watched Jim just chuckle/ giggle. I can't wait to see what the 4 door tracker will turn out like.......
I think the "less" quote is a little more from Kim's opinion than Jim's.

The do more with less comment is something Jim has said to me a few times over the years. Mentioned it was something he learned from Putt Caverly(sp?) back when Jim first joined GL in the '70's

It's great to see so many people turning out!
I will have an extra seat since my wife will be one of the cooks in the kitchen.
Let me know if someone wants a ride.

I'd say yes, but I'm sure I would take a nap, then you would get stuck and get a flat tire....then I would hear about it for another year. :D

In the paper today they said they will be doing construction on M-15 both sides of I-75 Saturday & Sunday from 6am-6pm. This will cause lane closures off & on. So keep this in mind if you hop on M-15 instead of taking 75 up to the Mt. Morris exit.
Back to your normally scheduled broadcast.

If you go up I-75, don't go all the way to the mount morris exit. Take I-475 to the Dort Hwy exit. Exit #9. This heads straight north to mt morris rd. Turn right & the mounds are down 4-5 miles. Much shorter!

Don't have final head count but we had at least 30 people. A lot of brushing was done & a lot of dogs were consumed.
Thanks to all who helped.

It was a good time, Skip was taking pictures so hopefully he post them.
Once again, I got to ride in Jims mean white machine.....which is always a blast. That YJ is cool. Someday when I grow up, I"ll build a cool Jeep like Jims.
It was good to see Bryce's Geo wheel, that thing is a work of art nice rig......oh sweet tires :D

So, did you open some new trails up or just snip some branches???
