Hello,

I've just registered to this forum and i'd like to introduce myself... but first of all, i hope you'll be kind to accept my "bad english" as i'm not english speaking !!

So, i'm from France and also off-road driver with my Land ROver D90, powered by a thirsty 4.6 V8.
It's a 1986 car and i've made some modifications to improve it : Rover tym spring, procomp shocks, Detroit lockers and Truetrac... all brought back from USA.. as it is cheaper from here..

In fact, i'm planning to go to visit my family in the area in Detroit and i'd like to get some informations from you in order maybe to find some off-road shops, accessories and even some 4x4 park if possible.
Do you think i could find some places very near from Detroit to rent a 4x4 or an ATV ?
And moreover if you ave some web links for america, i will appreciate to have some.

Thanks to everyone and enjoy driving off-road...

Hello and welcome to the forum.

There is a small area about 1 1/2 hours north of Detroit called the Mounds but I am not aware of any vehicles for rent.

Silver Lake Sand Dunes are 4-5 hours from Detroit. There are Jeeps, 4 wheelers and little tube buggies for rent.

Depending on your vacation schedule, Silver Lake is closed from November through March.

Hello FrenchRover!!!

Welcome to the forum!!

And just so you know......there's no need to apologize for your English! In fact, I think that you did very well with it!!

The only "problem" I noticed with your English was that you called your Rover D90 a "car"!!!!!!

That D90 is an AWESOME 4x4, totally deserving of the title of "truck"!! I have always liked the D90. Please.....give it the respect it deserves and drop the "car" moniker!!!

:D

I'm just having fun with you! Congrats on owning one of the GREAT 4x4 vehicles (I'm jealous, and I know for a fact that my buddy TimberCruiser will be even MORE jealous)!!!

Thanks T-Way,

I appreciate it... of course D90 is a great 4x4.... but it has also its default... and i have to be very smooth and careful when driving as it has a lot of possibility and ability offroad... But you have to keep in mind the weakness of parts !!

Anyway, it's my turn to be jealous when i see the pictures of the trails in the states... it seems to be great and you have the luck to drive in "wild" places..

And last points, your 4x4 are so prepared and aggressive !!! really impressed.
Ciao.

Hi,

I'm supposed to be in your nice country during the first week of october..
Unfortunately, that seems too short for me to organise a trip around... but i'm already planning to come next spring for a longer period and i'd like to do some off-road then..
Maybe, i'll take also the opportunity to buy a mountain bike there; it's iincredible the difference of prices between our 2 countries..
Bye.
