I have a couple of regular red steel 5-gallon gas cans - Jerry cans. I need the rubber-type gaskets that go under the cap.
Anyone here know where I can get them?
Thanks,

I couldn't find them sp I bought new spouts with them on there. True Value had the spouts up here.

Yeah, I thought of that, but I had to spend the money on entire new spouts. Mind are still only about 4 months old.

The gasket on the spout I bought is about the same age and already going bad I saw today when I was putting gas in the flatty... damn it.
Time to try to get an O-ring again and see how that seals. (seemed ok the last time)

I tried making a gasket out of inner-tube rubber. It worked sort of OK for the spout. But when I tried to use it for the cap (which has to be tighter to not leak), the homemade gasket either tore or bunched up under the cap. Evidently, the OEM gaskets have some compound in them to make them stiffer.
I'm going to try calling a couple of companies that sell the cans, including Blitz, tomorrow. Boy, if I find one that sells the gaskets, I'm gonna get about 20 of the suckers. I'll post on here what the results on my phone calls are.

If you can't locate the gaskets, try baby powder on both sides of your home-made gasket to allow the cap to spin and reduce/eliminate the bunching.

55 gallon drums have the same gasket and most are teflon or plastic. I may have a few laying around. I'll check tonight. If not, oil change places and car washes usually have a plethora of them laying around. :thumb:
