I got a seasonal position as a Survey Assistant in Juneau Alaska so I'll be headed up there in a week or two. At the latest I'll be back by the begining of the new year.

I'm kinda bummed that I'll be missing DOA and GG this year. However I'm sure there are a lot of exciting times waiting for me up there.

I'll make sure to keep up with whats going on while I'm gone.

Good luck Brian. I was a surveyor in the Army and it wasn't a bad job.
Give us a report once in a while.

I have some previous experinece from working with MDOT up here on the East end of da U.P. In fact, I met the friend I'll be working with while we were both working for the Surveyor.

We mostly did monument preservation, but there were a few traverses and level loops in there too, Nothing too exciting. We would go out and do the field work, then bring it back for the big guy to do the comps. This should be a lot more rugged :)

I've actually been thinking about pursuing a career in surveying. I've been having a hard time finding an engineering position and depending on what state I'm in I could go for my professional liscence. I am hoping that this job will help me make that decision.

I am going to make a simple webpage so that friends and family can keep up on whats happening. I'll make sure to post a link when things get going.

I don't know how much wheeling I'll be able to get in, but I'm sure I'll get something stuck at least once :D
