The United Four Wheel Drive Associations Board of Directors met in Phoenix, AZ on April 16-17, 2005.
One of the items discussed is how UFWDA can better support its members. One such idea is to build a "clearing house" for information related to 4x4 recreation. Over the past few years, a number of efforts on various web sites have been started. These efforts are beneficial; but time consuming to search out and review. United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) has been working on developing an information resource for land use advocates and members. This effort has reached a stage where the sharing of data will start.
For a idea of what is being proposed, check the UFWDA web site at: http:\\www.ufwda.org under the Land Use heading. Under the Resources hading, there is a presentation and an article about the NEPA Process. Under the Glossary is a listing of acronyms and definitions.
Other items will be added over the coming weeks. However, I would like to hear from members as to the types of information they would like to see posted.
Please review the below survey and provide a response to me with your thoughts and desires.
My specific area of interest is land use and ethics issues. This information will not be limited to land use issues.
The following items are complete and will be made available on the UFWDA web site within the coming month.
Acronym Glossary
Lobbying Basics (Political and land management agencies)
Letter writing techniques
Understanding NEPA
The Economics of OHV Recreation (collection of economic impacts/analysis)
Volunteer Trail Patrol
Additional data covering ESA studies and access to BLM and FS policies will be incorporated into the new "resources" section of the web site. I have a collection of data from various sources that would help people understand the issues of concern for federal and state land managers.
I would like to hear from you about topics and items of interest. I would like to start making the data available in a priority order: if people need information on a certain topic, it will be quickly made available.
Also, if anyone has data that can be added to the collection, we would like to include the contributions.
Again, if you have any pressing need for data on a certain topic, please sent me an email.
And, if there is a topic of interest not listed, please let me know.
