Since when is a YJ better than a TJ? I thought you wanted something lighter and stronger. I don't know about the weight issue, but a YJ is not quite a TJ is strength. lol
I'd sell you a nice TJ though! It's almost identical to the one you sold. lol

the yj is dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, 4 to 1 t case, and 39.5 iroks, with a full cage. id say the drive train is stronger? i was really looking for an older cj5. i found a few deals on a couple really built rigs i thought would be out of my price range. im still waiting on some more pics of the yj. i would have picked it up saturday if the pics got to me b4 i left for ohio.

well i just bought the twin brother to my old tj. it a 1997 4.0l 5 spd.
same color, same options, only 49,000 miles, and no rust.
its got a hi pinon dana 44 front from a late 70's ford f150, and a nine inch rear. 4.56 gears, 37 inch ssr's, posi rear, open front(not for long).
looks like a 2.5 inch rancho lift with 1.75 inch spacers on top, with a 3 inch body lift. rhino interior and flat fenders. under the hood is real clean, and totally stock, except the ac system was converted to oba.
needs a console, a stereo, a front sway bar, bumpers, and some tlc.
i already lined up some stock bumpers and a stock sway bar real cheap.
still in need of a console and a stereo. should be delivered friday.
i decided against driving it home with no sway bars!

Cool Joe,

its full width 65in wms to wms. axles appear to be mostly stock except the gears. but im not really sure till it gets cracked into. ill be the third owner. second owner is kinda new to jeeps, and unsure of what parts are in it.

cool!
I wouldnt be afraid to drive it without sway bars.... its not like they're brakes or something.
i drove my old one for years with out the front sway bar. i drove it with out the rear. one time i tried to drive with out both, it was real weird. it would lean into a corner pretty far, and stay leaned for a long time. any sudden turn was kinda scary. as long as you were very deliberate and slow it could be done.
it needs a little work, but should do nicely.
needs better sye(hack & tap), needs better springs(rancho coils w/big spacers), better control arms(rancho lowers, braced stock uppers), some welding(has some ugly booger welds), a console, ect...

needs some work, but i think it should be ok. needs a little more lift.
diff kisses track bar mount at full stuff. track bar and tierod rub when crossed up right. the complete tie rod setup is a huge tube with heims, looks real stout. can steer it with one finger. rides pretty decent, could use better springs and control arms. fairly stable even with no sway bars. my old tj was all over the place with out sway bars. has some noise coming from the tcase, i think its on the way south. 4.56 gears aint gonna cut it for long with 37's. needs 5.13's. no rust at all though! last owner picked it up in southern ohio. needs to be cleaned pretty bad. got both bumpers, a front sway bar, and a console coming now.

I'm still laughing though. I seem to remember a statement about you needing something lighter. I don't think your accomplished your goal. lol.
