You need to write to your Representative right NOW!

It appears that an attempt to weaken the Bush Administration's
Roadless Rule might be made during this week's debate on the FY
06 Interior Appropriations. The revised Roadless Rule which
currently governs our national forests allows for state and
local input before the implementation of any roadless plan for
our national forests. Do not miss this opportunity to
participate in this important recreational dialogue! Please
oppose any efforts to weaken this rule!

ARRA will keep you posted on what happens with this issue in the
coming days.

your opposition to the weakening of the Roadless Rule.

I sent mine in. This type of online petitioning is what I'd like to see GL do at the state level. We could send the links out in an e-mail to our members and then they can send them out to anyone they know that they think would support our cause.

I sent my letter in for the general ban, but I also received an update from ARRA regarding the Tongass National Forest Road ban. Here is part of what that one said.

"Help fellow riders and the people of Southeast Alaska. Please write to your Representative urging opposition to a Tongass National Forest road ban. ARRA?s interest is that access roads also provide a means for recreation interests to enjoy our national forests. Your interest is very important because the House of Representatives may vote on this matter in the next couple of days. .."

Here is the link for the Tongass National Forest Road letter

It might be good if everyone could send this letter in too from ARRA, this letter could help the general cause.

If anyone sent in the letter about the Tongass national forest ban that I added and the main Roadless Rule ban, thanks! Here is what ARRA sent me...

" Dear Nicholas Russeau,

ARRA would like to thank each of you who contacted your Representative urging opposition to a Tongass road ban, and attempts to weaken the Roadless Rule. ARRA would also like to report that your efforts were successful! On Thursday, May 19, 2005 the House of Representatives passed the FY 2006 Interior Appropriations Bill, but not without first blocking a vote that would have prohibited the Forest Service from building logging roads in Alaska?s Tongass National Forest. Thanks again to all of those who made their voices heard on this important issue! "

Thanks again
