Just received word that we will be joined by Peterson's 4 Wheel & Off Road Magazine, as well as several local news agencies, the NFS, DNR, Township Boards, County Commission, and Representative Geoff Hansen.
We have arranged for 5 Grand Rapids dealerships to each supply 3 new 2008 4x4 vehicles with company drivers so that we will be able to chauffeur the political a news groups through the project area and show them what a great job 4 wheelers do for our forests. (a big Thank you to Kool Toyota, Harvey Hummer, Van Andel & Flikema Jeep, Toyota of Grand Rapids, and Sharp Land Rover) These dealerships will also be joining the TT, GLFWDA, and United as supporting Associate members! :monkeydance:
We also have almost $2,000 worth of entrance prizes to give away to participants as a thank you for all of the hard work.
The NFS will also be utilizing the opportunity to present the TT with a national Take Pride in America Award.
There's a ton of great stuff going on this year!
See you there! :thumb:

Very cool Pat, great lineup of supporters & swag & press! But now we'll all want to show up with clean rigs, if there's gonna be paparazzi there.
See ya Sat, clean & shiny.

Stupid questions, Can we trailer to the cleanup location?
Do we drive normal peoples vehicles, or big boy jeeps?
Should I show up with my car hauler minus the YJ to help haul garbage?
help, I'm so lost! :ahhh:

The press is there to show how well we clean the woods so garbage hauling is the primary need.
Pick up, utility trailer behind a Jeep, whatever you think will fit on the trails and get the trash back to the dumpsters. Car haulers are nice, but they can also be difficult to turn around on dead end trails.
Your call. :thumb:

We had a lot of fun! The kids are already asking when the next clean up is and said they want to participate.

It was great to put some faces with names this weekend - got dirty with RJ, Kelly and Lindsay, plus spent a half day working alongside a bunch of really nice Hummer folks (who I sadly never got around to finding out what their names were). Also got to meet Rep. Hanson, who repeated again how impressed he was with the turnout.
And since the Two Trackers aren't tooting their own horn, congratulations on receiving the President's Gold Level service award! Yes I mean the REAL President.

Sorry for not getting things up sooner.
I spent last night getting the paperwork filed and the numbers crunched.
I'll post up all the totals and goings-on for the day when I get home tonight.
THANK YOU to everyone who came out!
There was a lot more progress made than just 100 yards of trash hauled out of the woods. 3 State Representatives, the Baldwin District Ranger, the local COs, and all 4 Townships were beside themselves with joy. Holton township wants to work with us to keep their trails OPEN and clean. Baldwin now sees the equipment and personnel ARE available if they "wanted" to designate a 4x4 system on their district (and I think they may now), and Representative Hansen wants to sit down and talk about "Our" (4x4s) legislative needs. :thumb:
One Forester even thought enough of us that he took the time to sit down and compose a poem especially for the event. I'll get it posted tonight too.
