Hey folks, just joined the forum, and look forward to alot of conversations and helpful hints on jeeps.
First off, please don't be offended, but I'm looking for some contact with fellow jeepers around the Houghton-Han**** area (Michigan Tech) area. My son has a wrangler (1997) at school, and he's new to jeeps. He would like to get hooked up with some jeep club members, and have some fun.
Right now, his wrangler is having some running problems, and with me in Midland, find it difficult to fix his jeep from my house.
Any one from that area, or in the area that we can hook up with? His jeep may need to be looked at by someone and finding someone to trust is always an issue.
I thought the members of this board (GLFWDA) group is the best place to build these relationships. He's only 19 and good with computers, but not so much with the jeep. yet.
Let me know if there is anyone that can stop by or pass on some good contact information for us.
Thanks for your help, and I hope this is not creating any heart burn with anyone.

Hope your son is enjoying Tech, I graduated from there and wish I could go back.
Have him get in touch with the Michigan Tech 4 wheelers club. They have all sorts of vehicles, tools, garage space ect. to use. My younger brother is in his third year there and has gotten to know a few of them. They are a great bunch of guys.
How long has your son been up there? Where does he live, I don't want to stalk... just trying to get an idea if I still know anyone near him.

there was a time, in 1974 when I joined a group of jeepers named 'Delta 4-wheelers'. I worked at delta college, and had a '77 jeep. Great days of riding on trails in the winter.
I'm checking out the MTU jeeper group as mentioned. Hopefully, I can find a reputable jeep mechanic in the Houghton/Hand**** area that my son can get his jeep towed to and get it fixed. That is without being taken advantage of as some people do.
As a second year student, he doesn't have a garage, or tools, or even the experience to work on the jeep like a lot of members here, and with me in Midland, it's a long way to commute to check it out.
Any local contacts that can be recommended for him and his 1997 Jeep Wrangler to be fixed, please let me know.
Glad to be part of the forum.
Thanks for any advice/contact information you may have.

Welcome. I am going to MTU as well, and have been active on GLFWDA for the last several years. I know quite a few guys in the MTU Four-Wheelers as well. I have a 79' CJ-5 on 36" Iroks, that he may have seen around, even though it isnt my daily driver. If he wants to get ahold of me, have him shoot me an email to my school account, and we can meet up or something. blwoodar@mtu.edu
If he needs some help working on things, let me know. I am pretty knowledgeable in Jeeps, and have tools, truck, and trailer, if he ever needs something in a situation, let me know, and I can help or find someone to help him out.

Thanks drummond. I've sent my son an email and asked that he contact you directly with your email below. His jeep was towed into the student parking lot for about 4 days now. It was running fine, then it just stalled. He got it running at an idle for awhile, but then when he gives it gas, it stalls out.
Sometime back his cat went south, and plugged up the exhaust. that was not much fun at Silver Lake on his first time out. We limped home with no exhaust as we had to cut the cat out of the mix.
Now whenever his jeep has a starting problem like this, or runs rough, he has to remind of the time we got stuck at Silver lake on a sunday night.
DieselMTU: I've passed your information on to him as well. Hopefully, he can get his jeep running again and have some fun with the local boys/girls.
he loves the snow with his jeep.
Thanks again for everyone's help to getting him hooked up in the UP. and i don't mean with the wrecker...

well folks, I passed on the information to my Son, and he wanted to let everyone know that it helped him out alot. Being new to the UP area, it's tough getting involved witih the right groups and everything.
Turns out that he had gotten some bad gas. added some fuel injection cleaner, and some higher octane gas, and drove it a bit longer than just down to walmart. Seems to be working good so far.
Hope so, because I just heard that they plan on getting 6-10 inches of snow up there today.
Rock on! and let's go jeepin.!
Thanks for the help to the forum.
