I attended the Auto show in Detroit on Wed. Spent a quality 10 hours there taking it all in. It was nice being there during media week as you didnt have to fight the public for a look at the cars.

JEEP had the same display as last year with the waterfall and such but they did come through with a couple of really great looking concepts.

One of thos being the "Huricane" probably not the most pc of a names considering all of the weather related malodies that humankind has endured lately. But regardless it's name it was an enginering masterpiece! All fourwheels turned the same direction and it can "sit and spin' if you will, in it's own tracks. It sports a Hemi and four seperate drivshafts, one for each drive wheel. I say drive wheel due to it having a seperate gear box at each of it's four wheels not unlike the Unimog.

The other Concept vehicle in the DC stable was the JEEP pickup. I for the life of me cannot recall it's moniker. But I can tell you this, it is a lot closer to being a production model than it's brother the Huricane. I am sure you will see it an upcoming issue of your favorite offroad rag soon. And keep your fingers crossed for this one to be on sale in your local showroom!

I will have pics coming soon of these vehicles and I will post them in the gallery on this site.

Oh yea, before I forget there were some Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, and Bently's there too, but I didnt pay to much attention to those!

Great show! We were there for openning day, unfortunately we had to fight the crowds, but who can complain when it's a free ride for all day.

The Hurricane was sweet and like Ironman said we will probably never see it in production. And by the way Pat, there was a Hemi in EACH end of that bad boy ... so make that 2 Hemis of power. So 2 Hemis, 4 drive shafts, 2 shifters, 2 seats, ... where was the 80 gallon fuel tank to satisfy the thirst of those Hemis???

I believe the pickup concept was the Gladiator, sound familiar ... like a name from the past. I agree with Pat, we will probably see a similar vehicle soon at our favorite dealership.

Well the Bentley I looked at had a BASE price of $279,000+, Pat, I thought you might be considering one for inside that covered trailer you tow. LOL

All in all, it was a fun day trip and we even had a couple of hours for a stop at one of your friendly One Arm Bandit establishments. Of course I just watched the Steelers squeeze out another W.

Your correct Doug, the pickup was called the "Gladiator"

And I dont think a Bently is my future, the thing costs 3 times more than my house!

I spent a lot of time around the Huricane and never noticed the rear Hemi then a friend told me he read that it had one and Doug just confirmed it. I can only attribute to my missing it on old age and a bad eyeglass perscrition.
