I was just looking at orv parks and came across coal creek. It looks like a nice area for riding. 72,000 acres and only about 7-8 hours away. Anyone have any experience there?

A group of us from here were there last summer in July (UFWDA convention ride) and we didnt have the right guides apparently. If I were to judge the trails we went on, I would tell you not to waste your time, but I have seen pics from others that have been there and ran different trails, and it looks like some good stuff!
Just dont go when it's hot, see first sentence. Early spring or late fall would be a good time.

Go any month but May through Mid-September.
The trails at Coal Creek (also known as Windrock) are best during the rainy/wet season (May through Mid-September are not those times).
Early Spring are some of the best times, if you like looking down the mountain side while on a greasy muddy trail (going up and or down).
If the trails are dry, the spectacular is lost.
Trail 3, 23 & 37 (run them both ways)

I was there with Ironman but ran a second day. We ran some good stuff but it is a long distance between obstacles and very hot and dusty. I would go back again in off season but only with a small capable group to run the tougher stuff.
