Hey Ironman,
Would you post the details about the upcoming Trail Maintenance activities on our new information board.

Dates, locations, times, meeting arrangements, camping plans, which trails you think you will need the most help with, ect.

I may not make the quarterly and if I'm driving up from Ohio I want to feel it was worthwhile ... of course just spending time with wheelers and maybe doing some wheelin' would be better than staying in Ohio and working around the homeplace.

Thanks for any info you can provide Pat.

Hi Doug,

The first weekend of trail maintenance will be in Atlanta MI, we will be meeting at the BP gas staion in Atlanta at 9:00 am sat. april 24 and sun. the 25th.
We will be camping at the Clear Lake State park north of Atalnta on M33.
This park has showers and electric and is extra clean and very scenic.

It does look like will will have plenty of help for this one so I dont want you to think you have to drive up from Ohio just to help. Unless you want to enjoy a nice weekend with camping and a cookout with friends on sat. night, and of course a campfire thrown in for good measure.

The folloing weekend we will be in 2 places, the North branch route and some small stuff in West Branch. With this new North Branch stuff going on for sure now, after recieving an ammended grant form in the mail this week, we will be splitting into 2 groups on this weekend. We will be meeting at the Forwards conference center at 9:00 am on May 1st hopefully pulling out and headed for the trail by 9:30-10:00. Some folks will be heading from there up to the North Branch route.

The North Branch stuff will need more bodys then the West Branch trail.
The stuff in West Branch is now on ATV cycle trail and a few of us will be using our quads to do the maintenance. With a truck to meet us at road intersections to carry the posts and stop signs. This particular trail was just moved last year into the woods and off from county roads that is why it now takes a quad to do it. Paul is trying to negotiate with the cycle club to work out a swap so we could get some road miles instead of 50" wide trail.

We will finish up whatever needs done at these locations on Sunday May 2nd.
I for one might be driving there from home both days, if I decide to camp it will be on state land in the woods somewhere. So if you are coming for the weekend for this and want to camp bring your tent and we can find you or us a good spot. I will more than likely camp if others are camping, that way we can keep each other company around the campfire.

Also keep in mind that both weekends GL will be buying food for a cookout on the first weekend in Atlanta and either a cookout for the 2nd or a trip into town for a pizza or 10.

If any one has any more questions please feel free to call me on the GL toll free number 1-888-705-8683

Thanks for the response Pat.
Just a couple of additional details, how/where do I find the Forwards Conference Center and what tools, ect. should I consider bringing?
If I make it, I think it will be for the May 1-2 weekend. I'll let you know.
Thanks again, ---Doug

Could someone update this wit hthe new details that were discussed at hte meeting. I know that new times and meeting places were discussed and we should probably let people know what they are if we want people to come out and help.

I believe the cmapground selected was the Clear Lake State Park and the meeting time was 9am rolling out at 9:30 from the BP in town.

The only thing different is the fact that some folks meeting us in West Branch will be heading from there up to the Waters exit off from I 75 exit # 270. When exiting at 270 you will turn left and continue to the next intersection where you will se DJ's party store and you will meet T-Way from the Trolls club at that location.
If however you did not want to stop at West Branch and just continue on to Waters exit and North Branch that is fine. The meeting time for Northbranch will be 10:00 am.

The meeting time for West Branch is between 9:00 am and 9:30 sooner of the 2 times if you plan on heading up to Northbranch. I will give directions to those that choose to go to North Branch but stop at West Branch.

And Doug, the Forwards conference center is at exit 212 off from I75, as soon as you exit and you see a shell station attached to a hotel that is where we meet. If you have been to sno-blind then it is the same place that is held.

You will make a right hand turn off the off ramp and then a quick left into the parking lot for the hotel and shell station.

Bring a chain saw if you have it and gloves and loppers. You might even throw in a shovel.

I will post here if we have everything finnished on Saturday so no one comes up sunday to West Branch may 2 for nothing. There is a slight chance that if we have enough folks show on Saturday May 1, that we might not need to work on Sunday.

Any questions call the toll free line at 1-888-705-8683

It looks as though we will definately need more bodys in North Branch than West Branch. Both of these will more than likely be done on Sat. and not require sunday.

If you are going and want further details call me on the GL toll free line 1-888-705-8683

I will be very busy from now untill then to be checking my e-mail or pm's so the phone is the best way to reach me!

Hey, I go up to Atlanta to run the trails often, but I was unable to come up for the trail maintenance (work sucks!). I was wondering what kind of turnout there was. I am going up this weekend (5/14/2004), and just wanted to know how things went and what Atlanta needed for maintenance. If someone could let me know, that would be great.
