Hello GLFWDA members.
I use to live in Michigan, about 23 years ago. I ran away when I joined the Navy, and have not really been back since.
I remember wheeling around Traverse City, and Newago and White Cloud with my parents as a kid.
I am sure the terrain has changed a lot since then.
These days I have my own jeeps for the wife and myself. We have an 04 Wrangler X and a 05 Rubi. Both are lifted and we wheel them all the time out here.
We are active in our local club, and with Cal4Wheel drive association.
I am also becoming active in United, and have applied for the Director of Environmental Affairs postion.
So, I do have a soft spot in my heart for you Michiganders.
I will keep an eye open here for land use issues to take to United, and cross post on the United forum also. United has had some success on fighting potential closures in the last couple of years.
And it sounds like you guys do a pretty good job of keeping your members informed of issues within the state, so they can write to the representatives. Good job to the BOD here for that.
I will post some pictures of our jeeps when I get home for all too see.
I also have a web site for our jeeps, and some land use/access issues. It is located here: www.tnt-jeeping.com
Update
Thought I would let eveyone know that I am also your United Director of Environmental Affairs. If you have any questions, or concerns, please email me at landuse@ufwda.org.
Pat also has my card from Convention in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Thanks
Todd

Welcome!
I drive around by White Cloud once in a while.
There are still quite a few trails . . .
Well, until the Huron-Manistee NF publishes its Motor Vehicle Use Map in '08, but we're working to have that corrected in '09.
Good luck at United.
You'll be in good company.
There are some fantastic people involved at that level of the organization!

Thanks for the warm welcome
I miss Michigan at times, like now when Traverse City is getting ready for the Cherry Festival, and the week long party time.
I have now been appointed as the Interim Director of Environmental Affairs. At the convention in Grand Junction, there will be a vote on the position.
I will keep an eye on the National Forest issue there, and see what happens, and offer suggestions if needed.
Does the Association have a land use/access coordinator to help track issues within the state?
Thanks
Todd

Hi Todd.
Like he said, I'll be getting the chance to meet you in Colorado.
Congratulations on you're position, it looks like we should be hearing a lot from each other in the future!

Good to hear from you, and it will be nice to put a face to a name at convention.
I am looking forward to convention and the Land Use Conference.
Hope to see you there.
I do have a soft spot for michigan, because I grew up there.
Thanks

It is a cool looking logo.
Do you have any stickers of that logo?
If you do, how do I get one or two?
Thanks
Todd

No one brought me stickers for my Jeep from the Michigan clubs!
I guess I will have to stop using the SoFo logo here! Just kidding.
Good job with the Boondocker and its award at convention. They are not easy to produce, and take a lot of time and effort to keep our members informed.

Todd,
Great to put a face with the postings.
We have a store Clerk who unexpectedly entered the hospital right before Convention.
We'd intended to ship some stickers and 'stuff' to the hotel for distribution, but the 'store' was temporarilly closed.

No problem.
I understand how things like that happen.
It was good to meet you guys at AGM.
Keep up the good work.

And if you want to sport a Cal4Wheel sticker, I will trade you!
My wife says my jeep is a sticker whore!
I think she is just jealous that my jeep has more stickers then her's.
