O.K. So a few of you have probably heard me make fun of Jeeps in the past, and I will still continue to do so, but I figured I better come clean and admit that I willingly purchased a Jeep.

I have wheeled several different vehicles, some with lots of room, and some that are open air. However I have never owned a vehicle with both, and have been wanting to for some time, especially now that I have kids that I want to take along.

I started looking at the wrangler four doors, but shuddered at the thought of taking a vehicle off road that I'm paying payments on. So instead, I ran across this beauty a few weeks ago, and ended up purchasing it yesterday.

What it is is a 1982 Scrambler, which gives me the extra room and removable top I wanted. The guy I bought it from picked it up in 98, and spent the next four years restoring every nut and bolt. He installed a brand new 350 four bolt, and mated it to the stock T5 and Dana 300. He herculined the interior, installed aftermarket seats and a new bestop, stainless headers and flowmaster mufflers, 35 inch SSR Swampers, and lots of other little stuff. He has been driving it as a daily driver since.

My plan with it is to finally scrap out the Jimmy, using the Dana 60 and 70 from it, along with the 8274 winch and NV4500 trans. I plan to fuel inject the motor, and eventually even swap that out for my TBI 454. My first few plans are to ditch the 3 inch body lift, and install some tube fenders. I have lots of other plans too, so we'll see how it go's.

Was that for sale around the Mt. Clemens/Chesterfield area on Gratiot?

Yes it was. It was owned by the manager at the Autozone there. I saw it a few weeks ago, and made the deal yesterday.

Is your driveway made of wood?

I give up? Why would my driveway be made of wood?

That's a nice looking rig. I really like the new 4dr Jeeps, but I'm right with you on not wanting to wheel something I'm making payments on. You made a good choice in that one.

Yeah, knowing that it is paid in full is nice. I gave the man $5,200 for it, and I know I couldn't restore one for that.

Dang, what a bargain.

Not that I'm e-stalking you or anything, but if you need a new Daystar poly' body bushing kit to replace your lift blocks, I have two CJ7/CJ8 kits available- one black, one yellow. If you prefer red, you'd have to wait for me to remove them from my '7- as I am in the planning stages of parting out my '7 and Jeep parts inventory.

It was never used off road by the previous owner after its restoration completion in 2002. He never even installed a front driveshaft. It was simply a mall crawler for him.
