looking for a fsj dana 44 rear. should be around 65.5 in wide, center diff. junk yard condition is fine. i will gladly swap a ford 9 inch from a 79 bronco for it. its 65 in wide, all stock. i think its 4.10 open diff. its from a 400 automatic, most of those were 4.10, but havent opened it to verify. can do a cash deal if necessary. or other trades. thx

Just FYI, the 9" never came with anything over 3.50 from the factory.

In the 70's, a good rule of thumb for the fords was that that sticks were 4.10's and the auto's were 3.50's. Doesn't always hold true, but so far in the 10 or so 70's fords I've cut up that has mostly been the case. Bronco's might have been different from the trucks however, because I did cut up a pair of 78's, one stick, one auto, and they both had 3.50's

Not that it is all relavant, but I have read in some old 70's ford literature, that 4.56 gears and powerlock differentials were availble front and rear as an option in 78 and 79. I've never found one, and don't know how many were built, but it would be a cool optioned vintage truck to find!

I should not have said "never" about the gear ratio because you could get some mustangs with the 3.91 or 4.30 (never saw the 4.30) and it was available with 4.11 gears but the 3.50 was much more common.
