Heres a great chance for two people.. ididit is looking for two Jeeps to do some prototype research on. We will be designing tilt steering columns for these vehicles. We need your jeep for two weeks, in our shop. In return you get a free tilt steering column.
Now heres the catch... this MUST be a original steel tub, and a original column.
The vehicles we need are: CJ5 1972-75 and a CJ7 1976-86 with a column shift automatic column. If you have one of these please post here or PM me.

Are you waiting for pics from me? If so, I missed that. Do you want them emailed to you?

Jim, why not just upgrade to a TJ with tilt steering? ;)

That's a great idea! Instead of installing a new column, I would only have to do a complete drivetrain/suspension/axle swap.

That's it! The new plan..............

I've got a "CJ7" that actually has a YJ body, I'll offer it up if it will help.

The 72-75 CJ5's are low quality years with frames that crack easy and cheap bodies that rusted before they left the lot. Sadly most are scrapped out. Your best shot at an unmolested steel body 5 is here: http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/index.php

Any finders fee reward? Kidding, good luck!

Edit: A post 71 CJ6 uses the same column as the 5.

So,,,, can anyone verify the 71 jeepster has the same column as the CJ5???

Why didn't I read this a few days ago? My ignition rod broke inside my column on my CJ8 Scrambler (same as a CJ7 from seats forward) A buddy of mine who owns a junkyard spent the entire day rebuilding the column.

However, if you are looking to look past the Automatic trans requirement, my 1982 CJ8 Tub is steel and very unmolested.
