Now is your chance to speak up and speak out to protect the rights of 4-wheelers in Michigan!!

The final Notice of Intent to Appeal the Huron-Manistee NF Plan of 2006 is complete and in the Fed's hands. The Two Trackers club is waiting for a phone call from the National Forest Service to schedule a face-to-face meeting. Hopefully, their complaints on behalf of all Michigan 4-wheelers will be resolved.

To assist in that effort, attorney Carla Boucher from United Four Wheel Drive Association will be attending the meeting to help the Two Trackers deal with the NFS. Because UFWDA is facing financial difficulties, the organization is not able to fund Carla’s trip. But that hasn’t stopped Carla’s commitment to 4-wheeling everywhere and she has offered to make the trip at her own expense.

The Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association has stepped up to help by offering to pay for Carla’s airfare. But there will be other expenses involved, so the Two Trackers are collecting donations to help cover Carla’s expenses.

The date is unknown -- Two Trackers is waiting for the NFS to schedule the meeting. We know they have a 45-day window, which means it will be held by the second week of October.

I don&#39;t think it&#39;s a public meeting, but Trail_Fanatic, please correct me if I&#39;m wrong.

You are absolutely correct&#33;
It&#39;s a closed meeting limited to those named on the Appeal.
This is a legal meeting, not a &#39;show support&#39; meeting.

This is the second to the last step in a process that began two years ago.
The last step is Court.

I started this long before I was a member of GLFWDA.
I wish I&#39;d been involved with you sooner, it would have been nice to have your representatives there too.
BUT, as long as Carla&#39;s there the Sport/ Hobby should be WELL represented.
I can&#39;t find words to properly express how impressed I am with her work.

Just thinking out loud....really dangerous&#33; Wouldn&#39;t be nice to have a thank you card signed by everyone, Have it at the Quarterly, Pig Gig, GG, etc.....
Again, just a thought.

The card sounds GREAT but I&#39;m unable to attend any of those but the Quarterly - and she may have been and gone by then.

We don&#39;t know until the NFS calls and tells us when our meeting will be. We&#39;re going to try for a Grand Rapids location but they might make us hold it in Cadilllac.

If ANYONE else can get a card(s) going around I could make sure they get to her. Just PM me for my snail-mail address and send them to me once they&#39;re filled out.

Would anyone be interested in gathering at the airport to greet her when she arrives? We won&#39;t know when or where &#39;til the NFS call, but I could post it ASAP when we find out. I admit that it wil probably be during business hours though.

There has been a change in premise for her visit.

For the first time in her dealings with ALL of the NFS offices around the country for 10+ years, our Forest has offered to conduct the afore mentioned NFS meeting by teleconference -- removing the initial reason for her visit.

After much discussion, it was felt that a visit from UNITED is still highly desired. Many enthusiasts would like to have an opportunity to have questions answered by the sport&#39;s FOREMOST attorney and Land Use expert.

SO&#33;

WHO:
United Four Wheel Drive Associations&#39; Carla Boucher WILL be coming to Michigan, thanks to the donations of generous wheelers like you&#33;

WHY:
To PROMOTE, SUPPORT, and EDUCATE full-size trail riders in Michigan

WHAT:
The plan is to hold a &#39;Meet and Greet&#39;, have Carla bring us &#39;up to speed&#39; on what we need to be doing IN MICHIGAN SPECIFICALLY, and close with a question and answer period.

WHERE:
A location in Lansing will be announced when solidified.

WHEN:
December 2nd was discussed but the UNITED BOD informed Carla that the quarterly Board meeting will be that day. We are researching dates in Late January or early February since wheeling is pretty quiet around then.

IF you, or your organization, would like Carla to answer specific questions "IN DETAIL", please PM me your contact information and the questions before Jan 1st, 2007 so that I can compile them and get them to Carla in plenty of time for her to research quality responses. This way we get the most information for our time (most bang for our buck).
