Vader5
August 25th, 2006, 01:01 PM
The Trolls will host their annual Fall Color Tour on Saturday October 14th. The tour will start at 10 A.M.

This years tour will start near Gaylord and end in Indain River. I tried posting a PDF map and it didn't work.

E-mail me for a map at vader5jeep@yahoo.com

START LOCATION: Corner of M-32 and US 131 (Citco Station). From I-175, take M-32 West from Gaylord (approx. 10 miles) through Elmira to the Citco/Subway on the corner of US 131 & M-32.
From US 131 head either North or South to Corner of M-32 West (20 miles North of Mancelona or 25 miles South of Petoeskey).

The Fall Color Tour is open to all four wheel drive trucks and SUV's. The tour will use wider trails and seasonal roads so scratching your rig (trail or mall crawler) will not be a worry.

Hot Dogs will be served on the Trail by the Trolls. Bring your own chips, beverages and snacks.

No Alcohol will be allowed on this tour at any time.

For more information you can e-mail Paul at: vader5jeep@yahoo.com

For anyone who isn't familiar with this event, this is somethng that we do every year.

Basically, it is a GREAT way to introduce your friends, co-workers, parents, or that brother-in-law (the one that you don't like to talk about) to the sport of four wheeling. You know.....the ones who think you're crazy for taking your rig out and "tearing it up".

You can bring your trail rig if you want to......or, if you prefer.....your daily driver or tow rig. This run is suitable for Suburbans, Trail Blazers, pickups, Durangos, Grand Cherokees, Explorers, ......you name it!!!

So tell everyone you work with, your kids soccer coach, your dentist, the salesmen down at the local Jeep dealership.....whoever you can think of!! The more ther merrier!!!

Remember......this is a GREAT opportunity to show a LOT of people that four wheelers are responsible people who care about the environment!!! AND.....it shows people that they don't need a big, gnarly rig to get off the pavement and out in the woods to enjoy nature!!

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 14th of October!!

Yes. But the starting point is all of 45 miles from the ending point, so there would be a lot of pavement pounding on the way back. If you are coming up I-175 you may want to unload the trailer and Tow rig in Gaylord (Walmart or Big Lots) parking lot and drive the trail rig to Elmira from there. It would save you about 15 miles of back-tracking at the end of the day.

Well I'm glad to hear the trolls are doing this again , I've been to a few and had fun but I sold the "square eyed rio" (I aint got square eyes no mo!!) and I'm hoping to sell the grand cherokee before this run so I may be driving the Dodge pick up so I'll need the trails groomed and branches tied back ...maybe cut the bumps down :) We'll try hard to make this one if I have to rent a 4wd.

and I thought the trail rated hot dogs were my Idea .

i think that I will be bringing my stock cherokee instead of my CJ. Is there a possibility to get stuck, or is it just more of a scenic drive? I cant wait, should be a fun time

The Cherokee will do fine. If you get stuck on this run, it's because you were trying really hard to get stuck. This will be a scenic drive through the woods. I'm hoping there is still some color on the trees, but if it's not on the trees it will be on the ground which isn't so bad.

See you there.

Just one run this year. The Trolls are a little short-handed. I've had about twenty couples saying they are coming (apply the 50% rule). We also post flyers. Actual numbers are hard to predict. One year there were 40+ rigs. Last year I think there were 19.

Are we going to sit at that mud pit and pull drunk hunters trucks out with Jarheads Hummer , or watch T ways "purple" ok lapis blue jeep tug the trailer thru the mud. :yourock:

Never a dull moment with the trolls , I only wish I had more time to do the other runs but I'm planning on bringing my wife and kids along and I'll be driving the pick up this time.

Yup. There is only one group this year. I ran the trails for the tour yesterday. Losts of Mud puddles, but no mud holes. T-way will likely still bring the trailer. We will be covering roughly 50 miles of trails with a quick 15 minute stop at "Deadman's Hill" Scenic overlook. Great picture opportunity there. We will then weave through the woods all the way to Indain River with a lunch stop at Thumb Lake (just off of C48. It should be a :monkeydance: fun day with about six hours of seat time. Bring pop, chips and snacks.

The Trolls are bringing the Dogs, Buns & fixings.

Oh yeah........ya know I'll be draggin' the trailer!!!

That's the TORTSS (Total Off Road Trailer Support System), or tortoise, as I call it!!! Kind of looks like a big turtle, and lumbers along behind the TJ like one too!!

It's not finished, up on the 35's yet, but what the heck!!! If I can drag it down the trails at Gitchee Gumee for the past 2 years, I can drag it on the Color Tour!!!!

Vader has done a GREAT job scouting out a new route for the Color Tour for us this year, and we should have a good time. The color is just about at near peak, and all predictions are that it will be at peak by next weekend. So.....get those 4x4s ready, grab your co-workers, neighbors, and your brother-in-law (the one you don't normally talk about), and GET UP HERE!!!!!

i bet you could tim. i am taking my stock cherokee on....whatever tires they are, small at the least, and i guess i would have to work hard at getting stuck. Im sure that your van could probably do what any stock 4x4 could do. Would be nice to see you at the run :troll:

He has a point. This may be a Trolls Fall Albino Color Tour.

And Dave, there are plenty of places where you'll be able to leave the group to make it to Cheboygan on time in case we are running a little late.

Well we made it to the best western in Gaylord (nice place) friday night , woke up to 4 inches of snow but got everything packed up heading to the Citgo and we got a call from home with a family situation so I made a quick left to I 75 for a long ride home . All is well at home just a scare but it really put a wrench in our color tour ride . In a way I'm glad because my truck needs tires and the snow would have made a slippery trail ride .

I got to hand it to the trolls ...everytime they reach in their bag of tricks they pull out a new surprise ...snow in Oct. Gaylord just got more snow than us Detrioter suburbanites usually get all winter .

Sorry for missing but I hope to make the next one.

Post up pictures of the day so we can atleast see what we missed.

And also.....big PROPS go out to our very own VADER for all of his hard work in putting together the route that we took, and for leading the way all day. Also, to Troll Fred Crawford for bringing out the turkey cooker to boil the dogs!!!!
