I enquired at the dealership about getting pedal extenders for an 06 TJ and was told that is not an option from either the factory or after market, due to safety concerns. :WhiteRhino:

Has anyone installed them in a TJ, or know of another option? I can drive it in stock form, but would like to raise the seat, and with 1.5" risers, I can't reach the pedals. (I'm 4'11, talk about safety concerns in any vehicle with air bags)

Any suggestions?

You can more than likely apply for them to deactivate the airbags. My aunt is a little one too, at roughly 4'10". When she bought her Saturn, she had the dealer deactivate the drivers side airbag, which is legal in the case of a smaller driver. I'm not sure if this is still the case, because this was a few years ago. They might just do a switch now to turn it on/off.

As for the pedal extensions, you might want to seek out a company that does conversions for people with disabilities. I know there are people out there driving who are smaller than yourself, and they are using usually either the extensions or hand controls. You wouldn't need the hand controls, but the same companies SHOULD offer the extensions.

I had another concern now, that if I get extenders, (and I'm sure I could find them, because yes, there are shorter folk than me) but would that make it difficult or unsafe for a normal size driver to drive it with the extenders?

Are you suggesting you'd let someone else drive your Jeep? :bigemo_harabe_net-01: :)

:thumb-up:

or you could contact one of the supporting fabmasters to see if one of them can figure something out (im thinking a chunk of aluminum, lightened, with some traction added and clamped onto the existing pedal)

I vote for the boots! Maybe you could get your Jeep painted to match. :haha: :rolf:
