View Full Version : September 2017 EBOD Update

September 29th, 2017, 12:07 AM
Hey Great Lakers!

Just a quick update from our monthly EBOD meeting! Attendance was light, but all but one of the voting EBOD members participated.

Nothing significant from the committee reports: finances & membership strong.

A couple of the more significant topics was the discussion of plans for the Fall Quarterly Membership Meeting and Jeep Creep.

The Fall Quarterly Meeting will be 10/14/17 at 2:00PM to 4:00PM Full Moon Saloon, 3408 Whitehall Rd, Muskegon, MI 49445. Trail ride in Manistee National Forest to follow.

The Jeep Creep will be 10/27-10/28 in Gladwin as in the past. GLFWDA will be sponsoring a couple seminars, communication, pets, and equipment.

And probably the most significant issue that came across our laps tonight was the following:

We have an opportunity to help make a difference. There are two upcoming meetings important to the future of the proposed Oakland County ORV Park.

First is the next parks commission meeting, being held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, 10/4/17, scheduled for one hour, at the Oakland Waterford Oaks facility at 2800 Watkins Lake Rd, Waterford MI 48328

And the next meeting is the next Board of Commissioners Meeting, being held on Wednesday, 10/11/17 at 7:00 pm, at the BOC auditorium on 1200 North Telegraph Rd., Pontiac MI.
Here is a link to the board of commissioners. If you choose to contact them, click on each of their names, there is contact info: https://www.oakgov.com/boc/Pages/contact.aspx

To quote Jim Kitson, "...I have no idea if any of this will help our cause. But if we DO NOTHING, we may GET NOTHING. If we DO SOMETHING, we may GET SOMETHING."

Bottom line: we're at the point where we need to demonstrate that there are many many people behind this initiative, and we want the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to step up and get behind the initiative.

The following website will shed a little more light on the initiative:

Quick correction: The 10/4 meeting is WEDNESDAY, not Tuesday as written above. Sorry 'bout that gang.
