Hi Great Lakers!!

If you missed our Fall Quarterly General Membership Meeting you missed a good one!!

Right off the bat a HUGE thanks to Nick Novani of Outback Wheelers, and RJ Byers of Dauntless Jeepers for hosting our Great Lakes quarterly membership meeting! OUTSTANDING results guys!! They promised a good turnout, but this was an beyond expectations!!! This was the largest membership meeting we've had since I've been associate with Great Lakes (12 years!) with 100+ attendees!! AND we had 60 Jeeps in the parking lot for the meeting!!! And the trail ride following the meeting had 52 Jeeps running the Yankee Springs trails! It was an awesome afternoon!!!

And as far as the actual meeting hilights go (after all, that's what we were there for!)...
> Financials are strong
> Membership is pushing 525 members!
> The Boondocker is back online and awesome!
> Ken Farley, our new Awareness & Training Coordinator, is excited about the position!

We still have two open committee chairs, Land Use and Trail Ride. We have individuals who are considering stepping up, but do NOT let that dissuade anyone from serving!! These are "committees", which means more than one person!! If you think you can help but don't necessarily want to be the chairperson, that's OK!! We can still use you on each of these committees to help out the eventual Committee Chairperson!! In both cases our last 'committees were committees of one... that just burns our good people and we're trying hard not to do that. That said, and to repeat, if you're interested, let us know, shoot me an e-mail and we'll hook you up!!

The proposed Oakland County ORV Park status was updated, and the bottom line here is that in 2017 GLFWDA will be an integral part of that endeavor. Jim Kitson, long time GLFWDA member and the official GLFWDA representative for the Oakland County ORV Park endeavor, will be speaking on this at the GLFWDA Winter Quarterly Membership Meeting at the SnoFari event at the end of January 2017.

We also looked ahead as an organization to events that the Association will have a presence at in 2017, and here's what we're looking at through June 2017:
> SnoFari, 1/27-28
> Jeep the Mac, 4/21-22
> Blessing of the Jeeps, 5/6
> Jeeping for a Cure, 5/2
> 4x4 Fest, 6/24
Each of these event offers the general membership an opportunity to volunteer at the GLFWDA Tent to help 'Promote the Sport', and take some of the burden off of the same half dozen folks who've been staffing GLFWDA events the last few years. It aint hard, we can use you, and what's better than being at 4x4 event and talking about something you love?!?!?!

And right on the heels of that appeal for volunteers, as most of you know, recruiting volunteers has been a challenge for the Association! One of our members (Mike Timm) brought us a software package that will allow the Association to post where and when we need help, and Association members can 'sign up' to fill various staffing slots! I.e., when we do the Jeep Blessing, we will need staffing help at the GLFWDA tent, and GLFWDA members can sign up by time slot to participate! More coming on this - stay tuned!!!
And finally, per the Association By-Laws, certain officers are elected every two years at the Fall Quarterly Membership Meeting, and this year the offices of Treasurer & President were up! (Vice President, Recording Secretary, and Membership Secretary are up on odd-numbered years). Dave Smith was elected for a 5th term as Treasurer, and Mike Olmstead was elected for a 2nd term as President. For the record, both ran unopposed.
