Has anyone ever done any camping on the state lands on Drummond Island? I know there's the township park and a few campgrounds, but what about heading off into the woods? I know about DNR rules and the need for a permit, so not concerned about that. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it worked out.

I camped with a group down on Marble Head. It was awesome. Woke up in the morning to a beautiful sunrise, grabbed some breakfast, and to leave camp you had to go up Marble Head. Not a bad way to start a morning.

Yep. Kinda hard not to when camping at Marble Head and the sun rises. Your tent heats up to eleventy billion and it's super bright. The two sunrsises I have seen there are really bright due to the reflections off the water and being in an open area.

We did the DOA sunrise run a few years ago. Pulled out around 4:30 am.

What an awesome sight. The photo on my avatar is not a sunset but rather the sunrise at Marblehead! :thumb-up:
