Did anyone else see this article in the Flint Journal?

A "real Jeeper" named Henry Walker wrote this article about how he is tired of seeing the "It's a Jeep Thing" decals on street sweepers. And I quote " I am getting tired of seeing Jeep Cherokees, Grand Limited or otherwise, with stickers reading "It's a Jeep Thing You Wouldn't Understand," as though their owners were part of the Jeeper subculture. Newsflash, guys: You aren't."

I am sure you could go to the Flint Journal website and find the article in it's entirity, I dont have the time right now.
It is worth the read, funny!

I think he has a point. For most of us, even those without a Jeep, we take pride in what we've done to our rigs. From mild to wild we've all put time and money into something we enjoy. For the soccer mom with a bone stock WJ to display "It's a Jeep Thing You Wouldn't Understand" is somewhat of an oxymoron. At least, that's how I interpreted the article.

The article actually dealt with some folks who were wheeling at The Mounds and were asked what they thought about the direction Daimler Chrysler was taking with the new breed of Jeeps. The responses were similar to what has been posted in various posts on our website. There were some opinions; some may call it advice on areas to improve and a few understanding why Daimler Chrysler is trying to attract a larger market through some of their new products.

I just peeled the "Its a Jeep Thing" sticker off my ZJ today. Its been on there for 7 years and was tired of it.........I'm sure many people laughed at me for having it on a non CJ Jeep. :P

I beleive they are two different articles. The one you are thinking of was in the Detroit News, or Free Press, what ever it is.

Here is a link to the artice: http://www.mlive.com/search/index.ssf?/bas...coll=5#continue (http://www.mlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news-8/1143471104323250.xml?fljournal?NELE&coll=5#continue)

This by far is the #1 quote from the article: " You are the Vanilla Ices of Jeepdom, and it is you who don't understand."

He is right about one thing. XJ's aren't real Jeeps.

They are better.

I actually wish I would have kept my wife's old XJ, it was already lifted with an 8.8 rear with LS, roof rack a kick ass Ironman front bumper.

Oh well, I will just have to do the same with her ZJ :bigemo_harabe_net-145: I love you dear!
