View Full Version : Jeep Gladiator (DCX, are you listening??)

I'm a newbie to this forum (hometown Jackson, MI)
As far as I can tell, DCX is still working on the Gladiator pickup truck. I have to believe that it's somebody's job there in Auburn Hills to monitor sites like this, so I'd like to offer a few suggestions on the Gladiator. For starters, I'm not crazy about the side-mounted spare (can take it or leave it). PLEASE keep the canvas roof and fold-down windshield. (It's a JEEP for cryin' out loud.) The hose-out interior is a keeper...as is the front winch. Also want tow hook, grill guard (option) and I'd like to see something more creative in integrated storage. Love the gas mileage of the diesel. How about a dual battery hook-up? Or a canvas cover for the bed (maybe deployable from the cabin top, for a sleep-in tent??)
If this truck makes it to production, there WILL be one in my driveway. Anybody else wanna give their 2-cents worth? Seems now's the time. I suspect this train is about to leave the station. ;)

There will also be one in my driveway as well :thumb-up:
I like the diesel idea along with a solid front axle, maybe the D44's with the Electric lockers! Factory sprayed bed liner would also be a nice touch.
DC, make it happen!

Unfortunately it seems that DCX is moving more mainstream with their new Jeep offerings. I forget what that cute little crossover is called, but it is no more a Jeep than the Eagles made with Renault's help in the 80's. I am a little skeptical about the rear coil setup in a truck, but it sure would be a great starting point for a dual-purpose DD/weekend wheeler. I especially like the idea of a diesel option.

Tahoes, suburbans, expeditions and some others use coils in the rear. Its probably just for the ride but they still (suburban especially) have a good tow rating.

Sure would grab my wallet and attention.
I'm still looking for one of those (cant recall "m" designation) military types of the 60's with heavy suspension, granny low gears, OD canvas over the cab.....etc etc
Too cool, baby.

Not sure what it was, but the best way I can describe what I saw a few days ago is "TJ Scrambler". Basically, it looked like a TJ wrangler from the front that was cut off just after the front seat (about where the cage comes down). Then, it looked like the frame was extended and a dakota or some sort of truck bed was put on it. It was strangely close to the Roush building where they do most of DCX's prototypes, and had a manufacturers plate. I wish I had a camera phone or some sort of way to record it, but before I thought about it, it was gone.

sounds like you are talking about a M-715.
I it would be cool if Jeep made a compact to midsize truck with a diesel.....but it would cool if any manufature made on with a deisel...Dakota, Canyon, Tacoma, et....just please someone add a 4cyl or 6cyl deisel to one of these trucks availible in a crew cab.

I've tested lots of prototypes but I have seen nothing that looks like the Galiator yet. the stuff we have is all about styling exercises. to me its all a bunch of crap, but people buy it and enjoy it, so to each his own.
if Jeep would have built the SJ I wouldn't have had to buy a Hummer.

The new cute-ute that you mentioned that Jeep is building is called the Compass.
I also like the idea of the canvass top. BUT....they also need to have a hardtop option (just like the Wrangler) for those that like to be able to lock their vehicle and walk away from it without worrying about someone with a knife simply slicing their way in and stealing all of their stuff!!!
The side-mounted spare was done to pay homage to the Jeep trucks of the past, which had the spare mounted in that position. I, too, could live with it if I had too. BUT.....the mount would need to be built in such a way that it could accomodate a larger tire if the owner lifted the vehicle and upgraded to larger tires!!
Would I want one of these if Jeep built it?? HELL YEAH!!!!
C'mon DCX.....let's get to gettin'!!!!!

I've seen them. They come with 24chickens and 3 pigs for standard equipment.
