Hey my ARB Bull bar is rusty as heck. I bought it in early 2001(I think?) and it started rusting after the following winter. I've sanded down some of the rust in the past and just spray bombed it....but it's getting really bad now. Especially the underside of the tube work.

Is it worth the time to pull it off, sandblast it and paint it with POR15 or something similar? Or will the pitted areas look like crap and start rusting right away again?

Or should I just see if I can get a couple hundred bucks for it, and have Ironman Offroad build me a new bumper?

Thanks

Not that I dont want to build you a new one but why not take it to Lake Painting by my house and get it sand blasted, then spray it with the stuff I use?

Or I will trade you that for one I will make to replace it?

Pat thats an good idea, I noticed your bumpers dont rust...only on the nicks and srapes. Mine rusted all over.

If I did have you build me another bumper this is what I would want, but with bars wrapping around the headlights like my ARB

JUST SAND BLAST IT AND HAVE IT SPRAYED WITH LIQUID BED LINER.

( ALL THE PAINT IN THE WORLD WONT KEEP THE TREES OFF IT ) :WhiteRhino:

Pat lets go your route. While you are doing the suspension we can pull the winch/bumper off. Have the bumper blasted at Lake Painting(even tho' I hate them) seens how they are close to your place.........and then spray it with that bumper paint.

If I were you, I would sand blast it, then I would have it LINE-X'd. THats what I did with my front and rear bumpers. That stuff is T-U-F-F and will stand up to a beating. When installing the rear bumper, a friend of mine was drilling to make a hole bigger, noticed that the drill bit was rubbing on the side of the tire carrier. It didn't really even take much of the LINE-X off. Like I said, tuff stuff.

Hey,
Too bad they are so long. Skip next door powdercoats stuff on the side now. I KNOW a bumper isn't going to fit in his oven though.

Might want to give Mike Scott a look-up. He manages the Ziebart in Mt. Plesant and they do the RhinoLiner. I might be contacting him about doing the Taco's liner.

The Line-X is dry in a couple minutes. The RhinoLiner takes a lot longer.

Or just take it over to Joe. He can do something with it.

Mike doesn't work in Mt. Pleasant anymore, they closed that location. Is suppose to start at the Euclid one, but not as a manager...so there goes the good prices :<img src=:" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

I still need to find Joe the get an estimate on the Suburban....got one today for $950. He hasn't been at the shop the couple times I stopped by this week.

I will sandblast it, Lake Painting is right by Pats house. Plus the stuff he uses to paint bumpers is a spray on liner.

Wow. I just talked to the BC location 2 weeks ago and they told me he was at Mt. Pl.

Its probably best to call him ahead of time. I will give him another buzz this afternoon if I get a chance/stay awake that long(I am still sick).

Brett, that deal with Mike S. just happenend. Mike H. just told me about Monday, and as of now Mike S is still without a job.

I haven't called Joe yet, cause I never know when I'll be in B.C./Kawkawlin. Joe's shop is just north of my work, but I don't always have the wifes truck to have him look at it.
I got a decent estimate the other day from another guy in Kawk. for $950...I just want to see how close to that Joe can get.
