One step closer to being ready...no more shovel. Just measured and compared to the old one a 2.5" improvement, not including the extra 2" lip I created at R&V earlier this year. And 1/4" thick to boot!

My check and reg is in my cars arm rest....for a few days now. We need to try paypal next year, I hate trying to remember mailing something, I seem to remember when I'm in my undies at home at 9pm or the start of the day at work.

Time to get my registration in.

By the way, on the registration, is it $40 per person or for driver/codriver?

Well, the list is started. Need to install new joints in my new driveshaft I made, swap out my bent one, repair bent one as a spare. I want to make a second fuel tank I can bolt behind the seat to use on long distance trips and have it fill my normal tank. Maybe 20 gallons... and then get my hands on a shift boot for my twin sticks to keep the heat out of the cab.

To all the GG participants; we're going to try something new this year.
Kayak/Canoe/Rafting down the Goulias River on Sunday.
Many folks need to leave Sunday so our plan is to make this a Gilligan's 3 Hour Tour Run (more like 5 though)
Rough plans now are to run the Goulias from Searchmont down to the back of the campground. Stated travel times by a local Outfitter say it can be done is less than 4 hours. Local outfitter is running the river on Monday so the probability of reasonable water depth throughout is probably pretty good.

We have two potential options to offer up.
Contract with the local Outfitter guide to drop us off at the drop in point.
OR
Make our own transportation arrangements.

I have not contacted the Outfitter yet as I do not know how many might join us so I'm not sure the cost for transportation.

Here's the Outfitters write up and the map of the intended route.
If you might be interested in this please speak up so we can get a head count and I can see what the Outfitter are willing to offer and what the rental rates for Canoes and Kayaks would be.

Right now the interested parties are:
kb8ymf=2
whiterhino=2
lgottler=1-1/2
landjvalleau=2 Canoe now
indy=Maybe twist his arm a bit harder......
phittie1100=1 + 1 Tuber?

Update for all that are going or are interested:
Still working the logistics of transportation.
A local expedition guide can transport us but we may be limited in the number they can provide transportation for.
I'm also working with the campground hosts to see what they can assist with and have been told they will help us in any way. (This may be our best option but will play it by ear when we know how many are really going)

This is open to any and all GG Participants.
Please post up if you are interested.

What: Kayak/Canoe trip

When: Sunday Morning tentative Put-in time 9:00 am in Searchmont. Take-out 2:00-3:00 pm on Groth Road off 552 near Kirbys Corners

Where: Goulias River

Looks like my sister is "thinking of coming this time". We will see. I think I'm upgrading/downgrading to a canoe and if my sister decides to join me, I'm doing the river on Sunday, if no sister, I'm going to pass on the river and do some local sight seeing with my daughter. The canoe needs 2 adults to pilot....

My list is getting shorter! I made a new GPS/Tablet mount. Started on a swing out tire carrier. Added my tailgate back on so water won't come in from the back.

I have to figure out what to do with my tablet. When I download maps, it looks great but when I turn the data off, I can't zoom in very far on the map. I don't know if I need an additional SD card or something for the tablet.

I have an iPad mini and use "Scenic Map" for my bird's eye view without using data or wifi. I used it in Moab this year and it worked quite well. G.G. will be another test, but I expect it to work just fine there as well.
I don't think they make an Android version.

OsmAnd works awesome on my Android. I downloaded the topo with elevation etc. All my maps take about 1gb total for Ontario and Michigan with all that extra stuff. Each state varies from 50mb to 250mb for roads etc... tried it out last May up there and I dont see myself ever going back to a dedicated Gps. Under $200 gets a 7" touch screen Gps.

He's going to tag along with Rob. I just need to get him a ride home. He has to go to work on Monday and I have the next week off and we're staying up there most of the next week.

I am going to have to bow out - my 71yr old "+1" thinks that his backside will be tired and achy enough after a weekend in the Jeep without sitting in a tube in 60-ish degree water for a few hours, only to sit for another six hours on the ride home.

Actually now that I think about it, tubing in Ontario in September probably wasn't the best plan on my part.

I like WR's idea but as an alternative.........
Any way I can help? Maybe I can fit it on the trailer? How long? Tall?
I got my Kayaks on top.

Would hate to see you miss a fun time on the water.

How much height are you missing? Maybe drive the Jeep up ON the 4X4's and now your Jeep is on 42's! you can stand under a truck on 42's! :ahhh:

Its really weird having a child to worry about on a trip like this. Sleeping in random places, and eating sardines and tuna fish all weekend long aren't going to work this time! I'm all of a sudden short on space packing for every emergency I can think of with my little girl.

All I have left on the Jeep are front bearing/ hub check, random bolt check, and packing it. Trailer maintenance is next, I welded a spare tire mount on and bought a new spare tire for it. I have new lights I need to bolt on, then lastly a bearing and brake check.

Unfortunately my parents accidentally donated their electric blanket (I planned to use it) three weeks ago to Salvation Army, but they kept the cord for it.

I could help bring up your Kayak, but I wouldn't be able to help bring it back!

One bearing set looked perfect. One side looked like it sat underwater for a few years packed with salt. Glad I checked.

Came home last night to work on the trailer only to find the entire trailer covered in donated Girl Scout supplies. If I accidentally pack a box of beads, I'll be ticked.
