Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association was awarded with a special maintenance grant for the St. Helen Rock course. The Tri-City Trail Riders put together the proposal, which address general maintenance of the rock courses added in 2010. The grant is approved for the work to be completed during the 2014 fiscal year by the Tri-City Trail Riders under GLFWDA.

The Saint Helen Motorsport Rock Course was installed in the ORV scramble area in October 2010, and has been a great addition for off road enthusiasts. The Rock course consists of six different rock climb areas designed for various levels of difficultly to match driver and vehicle capabilities. Five of the courses utilize various sized rocks while the sixth course incorporates large concrete construction tubes.

Currently there is no maintenance grant in place to cover the yearly upkeep of the course. The existing maintenance grants for the area only cover the brushing of the trails/routes, but nothing for the rock course area.

The purpose of this special maintenance grant proposal is to provide a one-time maintenance update positioned at key areas that are in immediate need of attention.

Excellent news Rob. What kind of work will be done? Will you need help from others outside of TCTR?

The approved proposal plans for brushing around the six courses and moving dislodged rocks back in place. Some rock fill will be used on the courses that need it. Additionally we will be addressing the approach on the tube course as the rocks that were in place for the approach were dislodged.

We will be meeting over the winter to get all the plans together and will likely be doing most of the work in the spring of 2014. We will likely need some help and will reach out when we get closer to the work.
