View Full Version : Congrats to Paul Hittie & Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association

March 17th, 2013, 09:38 AM
Please join me in giving congrats to Paul Hittie for the award he received yesterday at the DNR ORV Grant Sponsor workshop. Paul & Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association was presented with an award for “Innovation & Determination”. Since Paul was not able to make it to the workshop, I accepted the award on his behalf.

It was stated by the DNR presenters that Paul was selected due to his determined attitude to protect and grow the ORV sport. Paul recently has been involved with leading efforts to get a new ORV route in the St. Helen area as well as his relentless efforts in the ORV Route & Trail maintenance program.

Thank you Paul!

Note that the wood that makes up Michigan on the plaque is black walnut from a center beam in an old mental institution. :thumb:

Thanks for all of your kind words - not sure what to say, didn't realize they even had such an award but happy to accept on behalf of our Land Use Committee plus the clubs and individuals that contribute to the effort every year. It is far from a one man show.

I am a fan of recycled timbers, just not sure that coming from a mental hospital shouldn't be telling us something though...

For those that were not able to make it to the Spring Quarterly, Rob brought the award along, and I have to say it is even more impressive in person than it was in the picture. Thanks again to all of you that contribute to our land use efforts, especially our trail maintenance grant, because without all of you this wouldn't be sitting on my shelf.
