View Full Version : Labor Day in Canada

The trolls and friends are wheeling out of Blue Berry campground canada.
If you are interested in leading a run for Gitchee Gummee, and you haven't before, or want to find a new trail, I suggest you come up north to explore Friday thru Monday, Labor Day Weekend.
We could still use a few more trail leaders. If you are able, and capable to lead but not familiar with the trails, come on up, we'll show you a trail or two!
Let me know if you want to help, either here or when you show up Labor Day Weekend. We need to know that you know where you are going.
Because this is a fund raising event, leaders will have to pay entry fees, but you shirt with "Trail Guide" on the back, is free!

Victor,
I can't wait for you to "show us around"! Will there also be training on how to lay our rig on it's side with no body damage?
See you on Friday!

Are you driving your Jeep or trailering from home?

Nope, my Jeep is a DD. Work, home, play, everything. My wife has an XJ I steal when I can....so I'll be driving up.

Lucas,
I know how you feel. I often have trailer envy. I used to have a truck, but I traded it in. I may go up labor day weekend and drive into camp with my wifes XJ, but my CJ won't be ready. I was thinking of trying to secure a seat with someone for the trail rides and taking the camera to be the "Event Photographer" which means I'd be hopping out and running ahead alot to get cool pictures. But first I've got to talk the wife into letting me go.
GL needs lop (Lots of Posts) , so give me some feed-back or greif. :P

 ask for permission, you are just asking for us to give you grief arent you?
Do what I do and just bring the wife with you, it save on a lot of the grief you speak of!
Actually my wife is the first one in the vehicle when it is time to go wheeling!

My wife likes to go wheeling. But I don't think she wants to go to Canada with our 2 year old for the long weekend of battling bugs and sleeping in a tent. She's also pregnant, which means she can be a little emotionally unpredictable.
I will go if she doesn't have plans for me, but I think she will pass this time. I'll bet she'll go on the fall color tour with me. She takes the trails home from work about once a week in her XJ.
So, anyone got a seat open? I assume Pat won't, because his better half will be riding shot-gun.
Later. And keep the jabs coming, I can take it!

Wow Paul!
You are just asking for it!
"ask for permission"......"emotionally unstable"????
Do what I do....... tell her to get in the jeep, ride to the campground and if she doesn't want to trail ride.........make sure the camp fire is burning good when we return!
In reality, Dianne loves to trail ride & even....if you can believe it.........likes being around the Trolls! (and of course the Kinne's!)
Sorry, I don't have an extra seat. Hope to see you on Saturday.
By the way, we are planning on trailing out Saturday morning about 8:30am.
Lucas, when will we see you?

Actually Kim and I will have our own seats in seperate vehicles.
Sounds weird but its true, you see we will have our quads there so if it does rain I am going to kick the ----- out of Lucas. Not that we arent used to rain after last years 11 days worth but enough is enough.
And dont feel to bad Lucas we will be leaving our camper at home this time to and sleeping in a tent. :(

I won't be able to make it up there. I have to go to Ohio instead. Family members always seem ruin my plans with some big event. Oh well. Maybe next time. Have fun and keep T-way out of the rivers

Yeah, I gave up on the camper. I'd have to make a hitch for my Jeep.....it would stick down about 12" below the bumper.....then I'd have to remove it to wheel...then I'd have to get a wiring kit....too much work.
I'll probably throw my HUGE 3 room tent into Keiths truck.
What was the name of the store that sold the maps? US or Canadian side and where is it? If I get there too late, I may not be able to pick up a map....which would suck. But if its not too far away, I could drive down Saturday morning and buy one....

Lucas,
The store is called the Trading Post. Basically, it is on the right side of Hwy 17 just past the last stop sign as you head north out of the Canadian Soo. I would guess it is about a 15 minute drive from BB.
I will be stopping to pick up another map of the area we intend to run on Saturday. Maybe I will pick up a couple extras if they have them.
Yeah, that works!..... Then I can charge you an outrageous price for it!
Na Na Na!

We had a great time. 8 Jeeps and 3 quads.
We spent Friday and Saturday looking for new trails with limited success. Some new stuff, a tight and twisty and a couple nasty hills. But, not really a fun, challenging loop type trail like we were looking for.
Sunday was different: The jeep group found a really good trail that is tight & brushy with some muddy areas and some rocks. A really good run for 33-35" tires. Only problem is that it is a 45 minute run to the trail head.
The quads also found some new trails that will offer challenges.
No major breakage although Dice managed to destroy 2 tires in one slip off of the trail. Short sticks right through the side walls of his 33" Swampers. Ouch!
A good time was had by all!
