86 Grand wag

A young lady that I work with has a 86 grand Wag and here fuel gage isn't working. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

The reason it does not work is that she needs to sell it to me :doah:


It actually could be several things, one of which is the sending unit. The sending unit is the fuel level float that is found on top of the fuel tank and has a probe extending into the tank that has the float on the end of it. This then sends an electrical signal to the guage. The electrical part of this is usually the culprit, however it can also a broken float do to the age of the vehicle. But more than likley it is an electrical issue&#33; Which sometimes leads to pulling the tank :(

If your in the market for one I know where a pretty nice 89 is with 80k on it. seller asking like 3500 though.
